Ghost rider 67 pretty much got it.
I like the schluter products for installation.
Dont go over the osb. Put down a layer of 1/2" ( even sheathing will work) and lay schluter ditra according to directions.
Marble over schluter installation would run 13-15 $ per square foot in my world. ( not including extra layer of plywood)
If it is a honed or raw stone, seal it before you got or staining may occur.
