Since I have threads all over this forum with the different upgrades I thought maybe I would start my own "restoration" thread to highlight the changes/upgrades recently done and undergoing now for my car. As I've mentioned in other threads I'm not super mechanically inclined and undertake small projects on my car but all the big work is being done by a reputable restoration specialist and new friend Greg.

A bit of my car's history... the way I found it is a 68 Roadrunner turned into a 69 clone, was a factory automatic car but had been converted to an A833 from another 69. First thing I did when I got it was disc brakes after a few dicey moments in traffic :)

This past summer I was forced to repaint the entire back end (rear quarters, deck lid and roof) after 2 separate incidents I affectionately refer to as the "drum brake debacle" and the "revenge of the tree stump" - don't ask!

Now onto changes made in the lase year or so this is how it looked at the beginning of Spring 2013

Bought my girl new shoes

My combo is 17X8 (front) and 17X9 (rear) American Racing T70R's with Nitto NT555 P255/45ZR17 & P285/40ZR17 95W

You can see in the side profile pic the front end is sitting a little high (for my taste anyways) going to drop it with the torsion bars for now to make it level then when other suspension upgrades are in the budget will do 2" drop spindles

Car was completely rewired with the EZ wiring 18 fuse - 21 circuit box and harness http://www.ezwiring.com/wiring_harness.html To save man hours we found it easier for the rear of the car only to order the rear M&H harness from year one with a 30% discount and use it.

Here's a pic of my new fuse box location and corresponding thread

Upgraded electrical to EZ Wiring 18 fuse - 21 Circuit box and harness. (used M&H harness from Year One for rear of car to save labor) http://www.ezwiring.com/wiring_harness.html

See thread http://www.forbbodiesonly.com/moparforum/showthread.php?62086-New-Fuse-Box-Location-69-Roadrunner for more details

Hey goon I'm glad you started a thread to collect up your previous ones and move forward. Great idea! I'll definitely be following along

X2! Good to see your angrybird over here. Looks like that tree stump don't play games. Piece of useless timber eh?

Went at the dash instrument lighting with a different approach and used LED strip lighting around the perimeter to avoid the inconsistency of LED bulbs and patchiness

Detailed and cleaned the instrument panel while it was out and yes the lights will dim

Thanks guys I figured it made more sense and would be nice for me to have one place to track comments suggestions as well.

So I'm sure I am missing a few things but here is the list of items/changes taking place over this winter. Since I'm not doing all the work myself I may not have answers to your questions but if there is something specific that my build can help you with I'm sure I can get the answers

1) New Crate Motor from CME 522 Stroker - http://www.forbbodiesonly.com/moparforum/showthread.php?55867-CME-crate-engines
2) Wizard Cooling 22" Rad with upgraded cores and integrated shroud with 4 - 9" SPAL fans - http://www.forbbodiesonly.com/moparforum/showthread.php?55867-CME-crate-engines
3) new 489 centre section with 3:55 True Trac from Dr. Diff
4) The complete rewiring with 18 fuse panel, halogen headlights w/ relays, new deutch connector at bulkhead, Tuff 100 amp alternator, upgraded wiring battery to alternator
5) Centreforce clutch appears to be in good shape just going to replace disc
6) replace heater core and heater box foam while it's out (my core went on me 2 years ago so I just bypassed)
7) Prep & Paint underhood - yup you all know the story here... No links for you!
8) New 3" header back Flowmaster American Thunder Exhaust (would love to go with TTI but this is about $400 cheaper)
9) Small items - adding tri guage package (volt, water & oil) under ashtray... for some stupid reason I bought mechanical because it never occurred to me to do electrical gauges while re-wiring the car

Here's the dyno sheet and video for my 522 Stroker from CME

Been taking home little pieces of the car to show them a little love. Never had rear armrests so I found a pair of blue one's on here and sprayed them black and also gave the black in my headlight bezels a little freshen up

Nice looking car. Glad you got a resto thread started so we can follow along with the progress. Nice #'s on the motor and it looks like they were able to match the paint real nice.

Useless piece of timber is right! within 2 weeks of each other I forgot that my old drums were still in the trunk and turned a corner too "enthusiastically" denting the quarter from the inside out and then backing into a parking spot there was a limb off a tree that jutted right into the space :(

Thanks H2E! I'm really impressed with the numbers from the motor as well the HP was exactly as promised and the Torque was even better with a nice steady curve I think it's going to be a monster! And I was pleased with the body shop and how they matched it up

Great post goon. All the work and updates and upgrades look great. I didn't realize you had an A/G on that car .. very cool

Thanks Bryan,

I wish I could have a better detailed thread documenting all the work but since I'm not doing it and the car is off site I can only grab pics occasionally.

VERY NICE !!! Keep us posted . LOve the das del and look like your pritty good at what you call small task's !

Wow, that dash lighting looks like something out of the Tron movie. Very cool!
I've been thinking about a CME motor myself. In fact I believe that same one you have. If you don't mind me asking, what was the total price on that baby?, shipping and all.

This is pretty much back together now but posting whatever I have for progress pics in this thread... Still seriously considering hitting my steering wheel with SEM Color Coat to make it black and match everything else but just concerned about the wear and sweaty palms.

Seizure RT Carpet Padding.jpg

There was another separate thread on this also http://www.forbbodiesonly.com/moparforum/showthread.php?65667-Automotive-Carpet-Underpad

This is not my car in the pic but this is an automotive underpad (jute pad) I am considering for sound deadening.. I'm going ahead and using it behind the dash while the dash is out and probably going to have some cut out to install next time the interior is out of my car.

Thanks Wedge I'm trying my hand at being patient with things which is tough for me! lol. also picking up a lot of little tricks from others threads which makes this stuff easier

Daytona it does look like Tron!! hahaha and I sent you a PM with total cost and what I bought with the motor. I figured that would be better but if everyone wants it posted up I'm fine doing that too

Nice post goon. Interesting read. Though i must say I'm jealous. One bad thing about finishing a car is they're boring when there's nothing major to work on. Lol

Great car, That dash lighting is very impressive! great work your doing on the upgrades and love those wheels! Good luck...

Thanks Jeff! I'm sure if you look hard enough you can think of something fun to do OR.... start your next car! lol

Thanks Ron! I'm pleased with how the dash lighting turned out also... nice clean even lighting that should be great once run through the dimmer! lol and thanks for the compliments

Nice work on putting this restoration thread together. I am also looking forward to your progress updates. :headbang:
That dash lighting sure is impressive, and good to know you chose the dimmable version.

Love the new thread GOON . . . Very nice car, keep up the great work and keep us posted . . . wish I was that far along . . . . ( smile )

Now wait . . . you brought it up . . . now we're all curious ! ! ! You think we're going to let you off that easy ? ? ? ( smile )

DO TELL ! ! ! !

What a sweet a$$ RR, if I had a RR this is what I would want it to look like "beautiful". Love the color, wheels, motor, new fuse box location, but "yeah" it needs some love under the hood but man is that a nice car "thought about black under the hood yet"??????? Haha, Sorry had to do it. That should be a real stump puller of a motor :sSig_goodjob:. Every time I see a pic of your car it makes me start thinking about those wheels for mine "really sharp on your car". Gonna be a great car.

Kiwi if I didn't get the dimmable version I think I would have to wear my sunglasses at night!!

Thanks and hopefully I'll have some more progress pics soon!

The "Drum brake debacle" refers to just after I swapped out for front discs my old drums were in the trunk and I COMPLETELY forgot they were there :( Turned a corner a little too "enthusiastically" and dented the rear quarter from the inside out

2 weeks later I'm backing into a parking spot away from other cars and there's a tree behind it with no vantage point... I backed right into a limb that jutted into the spot and dented in the deck lid.... NEEDLESS to say I was PISSED!!

Thanks for the suggestion of blacking out under the hood 747! Maybe I'll start a thread about it to see what others think??? Or I'm just going to do it now and credit you for the idea!! :hello2:

I wish I were closer so you could just swap my wheels onto your car and see how you like them! I think they'd look great on your car and have no problem with anyone going with the same combo! That said I really like your original choice way back in your thread and think it would look incredible... Truth be told when I saw your original choice my first thought was "DAMN WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF SOMETHING LIKE THAT WHEN I WAS LOOKING!!" I think whatever you go with is going to look Baddass the only input I can off that I wish I did was stagger 18's rear and 17's front.

And as for the stump puller this thing is going to be a handful especially since it's a 4 spd... CME outdid themselves IMO... they guarantee peak torque of 625 and managed to average that through a nice steady curve!

I'm assuming you mean the US Mag Ramblers "I've had a million". There is another set I'm looking at with no luck figuring out who makes them or where to get them. Have you ever watched "Wrecks to Riches"??? Google Wreck to Riches Roadrunner (I think it's a 69) the only hint I got was the designer said they were a set of "they're magnum 500's" but have had no luck tracking them down. I really like the way they look on there so if anybody finds them let me know.View attachment 164699

The U.S. Mags you posted here are the my choice for your car.... if you don't want em buy them for me and I'll send you mine! lol

Just watched a video for that 69 RR 747 and you're right that thing is sweet and so are those rims... BUT I still like the U.S. mags better!

And now to ask you a question for my car that came up in yours.... to tint or not to tint?
