Yes.. because you can let the clutch out some to load the rear end so it doesn't get that hard shock.
 
If they were so great you would think people would be talking about them all the time. Myself this is the first time I have ever seen one.
 
I'm guessing overheated clutches and the amount of coordination required were the downfall. Definitely too many things for my brain to keep track of.
 
Lemme see, one hand on the brake and one on the shifter. I hope it leaves straight.
 
Real race cars have 4.88 gears, that 1-2 shift comes up real quick.

Overheated clutches wouldn't be good.

Back in the day some tracks have a sloped starting line and some stick shift cars would roll at. the line and go red
