One of my UMTR friends did Buckeye Skips last year and he said he had a blast.
They went to 3-4 different tracks in NE Ohio, drag and drive thing over the weekend I think.
He was trying to get me to do it, but not my cup of tea.

You have to get in? I always thought it was just open for everyone if you show up and your car can drag and drive, you were in?

All of these events require event sign up in advance. They typically sell out in around 5 minutes.
Drag Week is the only one that has historically taken people at the gate who show up the day of. They also have to wait until after tech is done to verify car count. I believe they will turn away cars at some point if the count ever gets over 500 cars.

And, all of these drag and drive events are mostly the same dudes over and over who "get in". Doesn't anyone work anymore???

Could you imagine how many cars would show up ?
if it wasn't preregistered entry's ?

Super Chevy Sundays (I know, I know) Fastest Street Car days,
was open fields to begin with
it was a precursor to all this drag & drive stuff today, started in the mid-late 80's
even other brands in the drive & races stuff/Street Tire classes esp.
eventually it went to pre-registered & brand only (or had to have Chevy Power at a min.)
& it died, a horrid death, almost died completely off, before the promoters/sponsors bailed
but ran for maybe 12-15 (?) years straight, (?) combined... don't remember

it was crazy the 1st ones I went to in Feb., every year Firebird Chandler Az
where you had to do a 20 mile course, & then stop & restart the car
without opening the hood or any help, or jumping it etc.
then went to tech to see if the car was track legal
W/min. of no anti-freeze, mandatory puke tanks, open ended lugs
with slicks of any kind etc., in either slicks or street tire classes
no fuel line or brake lines across the firewall,
max of 12" of rubber hose in/on fuel systems, under hood
& the latter one was a deal breaker for many cars

Buckeye Skip's is a drag n drive in Ohio. Starts at Kuhnle Motorsports park and then we drive to National Trail, then to dragway 42 and back to Kuhnle. It is 3 tracks, 4 days.

I have to pour over the rules but I believe I am running in street power adder class. But, I have to make sure that is the best fit.
