Been pecking away on the disassembly of my 74 special edition (who still hasn't got a proper nickname so any suggestions are welcome haha) but now I've finally hit the part I've been worried about. Whoever had this poor ol girl before me decided it would be a good idea to try fixing rust holes in the trunk/whee wells with spray foam. My problem is that I'm wanting to take er right down to bare frame so I was hoping someone could give me some advice on how to 'gently' lift the rear section of the body off the frame. Anybody do it before?

There is no taking the body off the frame per-say. It is a case of removing frame rails by drilling spot welds IF that is what you need to do. Otherwise you need to decide which pieces need replacing and cut them out individually. Trunk pan and extensions are spot welds. The quarters are not re-popped for those cars I believe. Therefore cutting out the rust and making patches is likely in your future! How bad are the quarters? I imagine the trunk extensions are shot by the spray foam repairs done previously.

Oh yea the trunk pan is spotted all over underneath and both wheel wells are hatched. After I gutted the interior n was able to take the back seat belt bolts out by tugging the brackets free cause they were so rotted I was hoping I could take the whole rear end off to get underneath but I can probably mig fix it as it sits.

i would look for a clean donor car for metal if you are needing it
besides the quarters 74 trunk pan is not repoped.
you can drill the car apart by the spotwelds to replace any panel you need
frame rails included..

The AMD trunk pan for 3rd generation Charger will work in a 74 Charger and the Tabco quarters are excellent.

I'm getting ready to cut my car in half and put a whole rear section on it to eliminate the possibility of finding out that the whole rear half of my car is a complete loss

Your taking on a real project: It really doesn't take long to drill out the trunk pan from the frame rails. estimate 3 hours to remove complete trunk and rear seat section. If you can locate a donor 74-78 b body should work well enough for your project. If you need frame rails, send me a PM. I have both sides in good conditions. Good luck
