Bought a '72 SSP in pieces and trying to sort out the underhood wiring harness and don't want to ground any live wires. Would like to ask how many ground wires there are and where they attach, beginning with the negative battery cable, to an intake manifold bolt or elsewhere? And what other ground wires might there be? I see a few black wires scattered about that have flat circular terminal ends that might be smaller ground wires but I can't be sure. Thank you.

The correct ’72 negative battery cable grounds to the block with the larger cable and has a 10ga ground wire that connects to the radiator core support, that’s it. Can’t always count on black wires being a ground on these cars. The alternator output wire is black, ground that, you’ll have fireworks.

there is also a ground strap from the block to firewall. your headlight harness is going to have grounds as well.
