Improving high speed drive ability

Well “back in the day” my frt.end guy put in like +2 caster(?) for drag racing. It was very stable, but, it took arm strength, which I had back then!(manual steer.box). It tracked very good.

What engine did it have? My 66 Belvedere had all the caster I could get in it and it was also stable at high speeds but the car was lightened to 2950 with the factory AC still in it. Granted, it was a /6 with an auto. Can't remember what a /6 weighs but they aren't all that light but think the over all weight of the car made the biggest difference...

3600# Bee, auto with a 440. No correcting necessary @ 110-115mph(?) Can’t really remember, although it got pretty squirrelly when a rod let loose & doused the slicks with eng. oil.

I have a ‘70 Belvedere. I’ve replaced all upper control arm bushings, tie rods, ball joints, and idler arm but still get the floating play side to side when the car is 60mph and over. I know that’s a “trait” but how can I improve that? Is it all in the original steering gear box?

Sonny, did you get the wandering sorted out? I'm having the same issue with my 68 Charger...

Replaced everything in my 64 Sport Fury including the power steering box and everything helped some, but it still would float a little at 60 plus. Fixed it this morning! Wheel Toe-out was the problem - now set to 1/16-1/8 inch tow-in!! Now at 70 plus no problem could steer with one hand if I wanted!! Like driving a different car!

Yes! Literally not the same car. Money well spent.

How did you sort out your wandering? I installed Hotchkiss' adjustable upper control arms and am now running 6 degrees of positive caster which is the maximum. Definitely helped stability and handling...

Just the new Borgeson gear box. I think my wandering was just gearbox play.
