Intake Manifold stuck

Got a dead lifter, so 6 pack aluminum intake manifold has to come off, but it's not cooperating. I used "the Right Stuff" when I put it on about 6 months ago. I recently tried to pry it off with a large prybar, but it wouldn't budge. Any suggestions?

Not familiar with right stuff but I know some thread lockers and such benefit from heat. Softens them some. Maybe warming it with a torch carefully will soften it.

yeah....take out the bolts !

IM KIDDINGGGGGGGGGGG... you DID take them out ,,,,,right?

with the bolts removed( lol)....use a rigid scraper....like one used for removing old gasket material. at the same time.....lightly heat up the ALUMINUM intake....not the heads....it should pop off with some persuasion by expanding !

get a B-F-H and beat it off like the chevy guys do....seems to work for them......

Yes I took the bolts off. I know ya gotta ask though.. I'll try the heat.

Is this a big block? You can remove the lifters with the intake in place. Just remove the rockers and pushrods, then pull the lifters out with a magnetic pickup tool. (or lifter removal tool if they are stuck).

I'm not sure I would opt for the torch. Although it might work, the engine does run on gasoline. Gasoline vapors, at that. All it takes is the presence of gasoline vapors and that torch in the same place at the same time and things could get ugly. What I usually do with stubborn intakes is get a wide putty knife and knock in between the head and intake and pry it loose that way. It takes some time, but it's somewhat less dangerous than using fire.

Rat Rod is right. i didnt really think about the dangers involved..DONT USE A TORCH.
just work it all around the intake , itll come off eventually!

The right stuff is some seriously sticky stuff! You can probably get the engine crane and lift the front of the car by the intake and still not break it loose! What you need to do is get a big prybar under the very corner of the intake or sharpen a putty knife and tap it in between the intake and head, also in the corner. Look for a small gap to get the putty knife started.

a slow pry works best with sealant in place.take a gasket scrapper and tap it into the sealed area with a hammer.(preferably under the valley pan since it is cheep to replace if damaged)make sure you dont catch the edge of the aluminum.once in place slowly pry upward.constant presure works way better then jerking it.the right stuff is super strong,so you will need to put a good amount of muscle to it.

That did it. Putty knife tapped into a few places.

I didn't think the lifters fit through the head casting...
