I am in the process of rebuilding a 440 so I needed and intake/valley pan gasket. I bought one from FEL Pro but did not like the idea of "gluing" two paper gaskets to the metal one. I ordered and picked up today one from MAHLE only to find that FEL Pro makes this gasket as well. The MAHLE gasket does not come with the paper auxiliary gaskets. The two are literally identical right down to the FEL Pro stamp and part number embossed in the gasket. I guess I should have anticipated this with so many parts suppliers buying other vendors' parts and re boxiing them.

Fel pros metal valley pan can be used alone. The paper gaskets will help with lining up holes if there is a a problem.
Some folks prefer a paper gasket making contact with their aluminum intake but it will seal without it if the holes all line up and nothing has been planed.

My understanding is with cast iron intakes you don't use the gaskets.
The gaskets were originally used for the aluminum 6 pack intakes, but I would guess that applies to any aluminum aftermarket intake.
