Snow makes folks flip out here near St.Louis the news goes nuts and then we get a little.. Ive made a living running a wrecker and I enjoyed it more then, the challenge was more fun... traffic scares me now a days as most can’t drive in it. All you have to do is use your melon and put a little weight in, keep it rolling and keep the tank and fluids full and make sure you got good rubber worst thing is chain up and I’ve done it once and I’m 45! I enjoy the way snow makes it so quiet though but now cold sucks my joints get stiff... lol
I think MODoT has told the panic crews to stay off the overpasses as they now do their remotes from parking lots near the highways. Used to be they flocked to the overpass nearest their studios. Or they broadcast from their roving storm chasers while telling us to stay off the roads. That may have changed some since I wont even turn on the local propaganda shows. One station comes on at 4 am and goes until 10 and only tells us about the same four or five things over and over whille saying, "for more information see our website". Well...if I have to go to their website to get the story, why watch the tv? And usually the website consists of Iinks to the video from the tv! When I was a much younger lad and it snowed there was no calling off work due to snow. I worked at MODoT. We all made it in, too.
We got about 6” up here and then it turned to light rain overnight making it a heavy & sloppy mess to clean up this morning and it’s still raining now. North and west of us (and not that far away), the amounts climb to over a foot.
30 inches in the mountains of the Poconos Another 6 - 12 coming today and 30 mph wind....can't see sh@t driving. Lovely
