Jegs generators ?? Anyone know about the A iPower gens?

My old gen smoked the generator....the engine still runs good.

Find a ge unit used or military grade portable. If not the Honda engine is the best.
Yup, the Hondas are but pricey too. I'm on a very limited budget these days.

"Enough power for whole-house and emergency use
  • What will it Power: Lights, TV, refrigerator, pump, air conditioner, and fan, all at the same time. It is capable of running 2 to 3 power tools"
Yea, I call BS.. My AC has 2 60 amp breakers. P=I*E. therefore, 60*240=14,400Watts per unit. The 7K generator couldn't run the air handler, let alone all of the stuff they claim. I run fans, lights, TV, fridge, freezer, and a few other things on my 7K diesel generator. I turn off the AC, and disconnect the water heater, but everything else runs.
Oh they always hype up the product. After having a Generac for well over 20 years, I pretty much know what they will power and what they won't..... :) I need to dig into my old one before making any decisions and find out just what caused it to let out it's smoke.

Here's a little known secret-

You can put a honda muffler on many other brand engines and it will quiet them down.

Having worked for an RV dealer for years...spend the money, or save money till you can. Buying a "budget" gennie will result in you spending money...and having a dead generator when you need it.

Generac (at least their RV lines) are junk. Their home/industrial units may be different, but the RV stuff was horrible.

If I needed a generator (NEEDED, as in, lots of power outages and had to have it to keep the house intact), I'd get a Cummins/Onan or a Honda. Period. Ditto portables - if I HAD to have it, I'd go with a name brand, quality build, good warranty.

If you just want to have one because you're at the track sometimes and you want the a/c on your trailer to work...you can get a cheap one, but don't be surprised if it goes down faster than you burn through cans of race gas.

You get what you pay for. Question is, how often do you want to spend - one big one? Or a bunch of little ones (eventually followed by the one big one anyway)?

I've been happy with my Coleman 6250 (5000 run) but apparently they don't make them any more.

I see Yamaha makes them but they are pricey.

For a while, the harbor freight predators (some models) used the subaru robin engine, same as my Coleman.

Looks like the former Coleman generators are now "Powermate".

...and curiously, they have Generac engines.

Wonder who really makes them.

Hurricane season isn't too far off in the distance. Starts in June but usually doesn't get active until August. And if I could afford the best, I'd have it....

The good thing about those Coleman's is that parts are SUPER easy to find.

I can get a 2 pack (yes, two) of carburetors for $17 from ebay from multiple vendors!

I had to rebuild the carb on mine in '17. It ran well enough to get the fridge and window AC through the 2 days of no power after Irma, but it wasn't the smoothest. I did see some deep pitting in some areas. Probably need that 2 pack.

...although that's the most maintenance it's needed since I bought it in 2004.

...and from the story of my life, "what are the odds" file...

I found a robin engine that's identical to mine without a carb coupled to a smaller generator unit.....near my dumpster.
It turns over easy with the pull string. If I get that 2 pack, I could see if it fires up.....
