Just want to get this clear in my head; Distributor date codes

I am restoring my 1970 GTX, a 440, 4 speed, dana car. The build date is 2,19,70. I bought it as a basket case with no engine, the car almost completely in boxes but a roller. I am piecing the engine back together and currently hunting for a (at least close) date code correct distributor. Currently I have three options, 6 9, 41 9, or 23 0. I am wondering, does 6 9 correspond to the 6th week of the production year, (in other words 2nd week in Aug.) 9 corresponds to 1969 as opposed to 6 meaning 2nd week of Feb. in 1969. It's something I'm not clear on and I'm sure you fellas can clear it up for me. I appreciate any help you give me. Thanks, Abe

It is a single points distributor, #3438222

41 9 would be the 41st week of 1969 and better suited for your Feb '70 car.

That means they counted the weeks from the beginning of the year and not the beginning of the production year. That answers my question completely. Thank you

Yes the weeks start the first week of January. Now after the 26th week it is the next year. IE 259 is 1969 269 is 1970 Now Prestolite has a different system on some years. The consensus on the dist date coeds are usually three months back from production date.

I thought all 440 4spd cars had prestolite distributors and automatics used the single point chrysler?

Most did. 233 and 222 was a exception. Just from my for sale list here. Different HP usually determied it.
