Hello all,
I have a question about k members.
Im going to start by saying this is my first morpar build I'm doing for a friend.

Question is, are the 440 and 426 hemi k members different?

Problem / back story is:
The car is a '67 GTX originally a 440 car.
He bought a 426 Hemi and a magnum force k member (which I'm not impressed with at all, but that another story)
So with this combo the engine sits crooked in the engine bay...Ron @ magnum force says they are supposed to be this way, it's how they came from the factory. Is this true ?
Problem is the tail stock on the trans hits the side of the tunnel... definitely no room to add the overdrive box he wants on the back. So... modify the floor? Cut apart k member and modify? What are you thoughts? Magnum force is no help, they not returning calls or emails. Pic of the car and some engine shots... hard to see the angle in the pictures, but that's what I'm dealing with.

The engines are offset towards the passenger side, but they are not supposed to be crooked. The engine should be parallel to the cars centerline.

Does this block have the hemi style mounting boss or wedge style ears. There were some blocks with the wedge style casted. If wedge style maybe the brackets are on the wrong side of the ears or on the wrong sides. My question is that with it that crooked how could the transmission bolt to its mount and cross member correctly???

I don't see that why it would not, being the trans is only located singingly at its rearest point, the front of the trans mimics the engine location/orientation when attached. The key would be how much slop/flex is in the motor mounts to accommodate any possible needed rotation of the motor (in plan view) to bolt up to the trans. How acceptable that is might vary.

[[[[[Problem is the tail stock on the trans hits the side of the tunnel.]]]]] Things can not be lining up that well with this happening. Dont need to be a rocket scientist to see that.

I would fix your title to make it more specific. I'm sure Bill with the black 66 or 67 Satellite would be happy to share pics how an original hemi sat in those cars.

Ron Jenkins is an idiot that looks like a Roadie for a crappy Rock band. His products are junk, the engineering of his products are junk. Magnum Farce is a step backwards from stock.
I never understood why the Hemi had to have different mounts than a regular Big Block.

Buy a Hemi K member! Yes you need to modify the floor for OD. TTI has this chart, go to thier site if you can't read it.

Speaking of Rocket Scientists doesn't necessarily imply a lot of credibility lately.

As far as MF goes, I am puzzled why their offerings are even up for discussion with all the widespread discussions and shade (justifiably IMO) thrown their way. Can't agree with the roadie comparison, most roadies I know shun attention, why they always duck walk on stage in front of an audience. :)

On the unique Hemi motor mount aspect, it was my thinking it resolved some header routing issues early on and we got stuck with it is my guess.:moparsmiley:

Along with getting a Hemi specific k-frame or one thats been converted, you go this route using a regular V8 unit. This is the route I took for my 65 using a 70 k with an Indy engine which has Hemi style mounting on the block.

The factory K members offset the engine to the passenger side for steering box clearance but the centerline is parallel to the vehicle center.
