kidney stones

It's not just the dairy, Blade. You get calcium from other things, like dark leafy greens, sardines or salmon, broccoli, white or green beans, almonds, figs, oranges, okra.... Some things are surprising, like two tablespoons of molasses has more calcium than half a cup of milk.

I had kidney stones 2x. When the pain sets in its like nothing else in your world matters. The pain is so severe that you would do anything for it to go away. No amount of jumping, bending over, curling up, walking it off, nothing will lessen the pain and the pain is uncontrollable. When you arrive at the emerg, when they notice you grabbing your side and pacing the floor, they know its stones and you get cut in front of the line to get some pain meds asap. They know how painful it can be. Yup, drink lots of water.

Had a stone every year four 6 years running and then hooked up with a urologist nicknamed "Honky O'Halloren" who really knew his ****. He had me piss in a box lined with a plastic bag for 72 hours and then had the chemical composition analysed. Turned out that I was my own worst enemy. Eurchric acid was low in my system, calcium was high and that was the making of a lot of grief. I could tell before hand ( about 1 hour ) when I was about to pop a rock and drove myself to the hospital before I became incapacitated completely. How did I solve it? Cut out beer for liquor, dumped the dairy stuff and cheese as much as possible and drank fluids high in acids - orange juice, lemonade, cranberry juice etc. Been 28 years since my last one. Maybe it's time you went to see a specialist, the results might just surprise you.

Things are pretty cooled off, shits pretty well emulsified now, remnants is all.
concentrated cranberry flush over last 6 mos did trik, clear water is the stabilizer.
Believe me, i learned "tracking" quite well from kidney to the tube. ID of my tract has probly increased a mm or two, just psyche the **** out & oulast it, like so many other things in Life, "Break On Through To the Other Side.....bompbompbampapabampa...Night Divides the Day"......never thought this tread would take,,,Thanks for the Traffic BBOers.........jimi......see Bro's chopped oval........

My wife's was 13 mm they had to go in through her back . Then she wound up having to pass all the pieces they broke up. It was a nightmare. My biggest was 6 mm

That is f-ing admirable as hell......You're a Tough Cookie Dude.....i have moved a ton of rocks, flotsam and jetsum from being cut up...jagged rocks, but my worst was a 4.5 mm, Your Wife, Man that is Crucial, Bet She's a hell of Stronged Willed Woman..........Break on through.
.....

I don't particularly like cranberry juice, but I try to have a glass every morning, along with a couple of capfuls of Apple cider vinegar. After that, it's pretty much drinking water the rest of the day. Seems to work for me.

Bladecutter,

this is a timely post for me! 3yrs ago i got my first stone (age 43). it was a 5+mm, they surgically removed it & put in a stint. Believe me the stint removal was worse than the stone getting stuck! I was completely awake w/ no pain killers when they went in my pee-shooter to rip the plastic tube out of the flesh that had just grown around it. The bonus was they lost ahold of it & had to go for a second try! ...I don't use that urologist anymore.
I've passed a couple more on my own around 3mm. In Oct. that pain came back. I gutted it out until mid Jan. Seen a new doctor & they did a xray but didn't believe what they were seeing so they did a CT scan. I had a 3.5mm in my bladder, two 1.5mm in my right kidney and a 7mm in my left kidney!
I passed the one in my bladder on my own. Now I have a to go in for a blasting March 7th to tend to the one in the left kidney. They want to see if i can clear the right kidney pair on my own.
I quit drinking pop a long time ago. No one in my family has had stones before. I drink almost the double amount of water suggested daily. This last year I changed my diet & started being more active, resulting in losing alot of weight. Not sure why I've been so lucky?! But this does suck!
I blame my wife for inadequate suction! lol
anyway, good luck to all those who have these problems. Grit your teeth!

Personally never had a hard time wizzing them out it was the trip from the kidney to the bladder that was the killer. AAAAAAAHHHHHHHH I never screamed so friggin loud for anything ....... It may sound crazy but I found drinkin a crap load of beer seemed to help, tho maybe not medically approved. Have wizzed blood a few times over the years , the first time was maybe 40 years ago. freaked me out! BTW never a MEGA soda drinker..........

This is an Exclusive club to charter.....meaning only that those Whom have never been down the
'rocky road', can't begin to get a grasp of the grip. yeah, the trip from kidney thru urinary tract, stuffed in thru prostate(MILDRED!!!!!!!)to bladder is the fighting cage. Todays reports of 13 mm, 7mm & 6mm are f-in Heroic dealings.....i dont know the source my calcium builds on, all the stuff Photon mentioned is not in my regular diet, and only occassionally eat said items.....i still deal a little, time to time, but am coasting it all off.
Big Fun, Best of Luck to You on Breaking the Seven mm, Really, Sincerely!!
When i started this tread, i didnt expect it to traffic......figured people might think i was being tasteless, yammin about my 'stoned experience'
After reading Others's trials over last few days, well, the Vibe is an Alliance.....a Kindredness between Us. So in Salutation & Mutual Respect,
I Salute All for the Will & Tenacity it takes to Endure & Overcome this insiduous ****.......membership dues of this Charter are a

I am very familiar with the previous comments about the throw up sickening pain with no relief. I went to the Dr. when I absolutly couldn't pee. She thought it must be something eles and had me take a basket to the restroom and try to get a sample. The stone was stuck in my urethera and I had to milk ole willy like a cow teat. I heard a loud "clink" and peed like a race horse! such relief like I have never had. I took it to the Dr. and she was very surprised, never had a patient pass one at her office and never had seen one so big that passed naturally
Went to a urologist for scans and they found 10 stones between the two kidneys that were the size of a marble each.
They put me to sleep and busted up stones with a laser and fished out the pieces one by one. It took 7 procedures , each about three hours to get them all out. A year later, I got another one. I asked what I should do to prevent them and he told me that nothing had been proven to work..He did tell me to quit taking my calcium supplements. He also told me I had some permanet kidney damage. Worst thing is , now I have to use a catheter every time I pee, so I don't drink as much water as I should.....AAAHHHH the"golden" years !.....................................MO

I had one a few years back. Came on all of a sudden. I called my wife to take me to the emergency room. By the time she came home to get me, I was crawling around on the floor in pain. Literally, I crawled into the emergency room...couldn't even stand. While my wife was getting me checked in, I was on the floor on all fours in excruciating pain in front of total strangers. They took me back and gave me a shot of morphine...pain gone. Went into surgery where the doc ran a device with a flashlight and and what looked like a pair of vice grips up through my penis and my prostate and into the kidney tube and pulled the stone out. Went home the next day. No more problems since...fingers crossed.
