License plate

Just going through some of my dad's stuff ad I came across this. Mom says that somebody gave it to him and she thinks that it may be from Viet Nam. Any body have any idea where this is from?



I also have an Illinois license plate from 1976 bicentennial. Pretty neat looking.

Looks a lot like the ones in Qatar.. but that's not the right time period. Thailand perhaps. Not sure though. 'Nam is a fair guess.

Not Vietnam. Those are Indian numerals, used in the majority of Arabic and many Muslim nations...and also in India. The part on the right is in Arabic.

Plates from Vietnam are styled like French plates, since that was French Indonesia until after WWII. A Vietnamese plate example:

Not Qatar, either:

Nor Kuwait, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Saudi, Iraq, Iran, UAE, Abu Dhabi, or Dubai, either.

Pakistan and India resemble British plates.
