Lights Dim at Idle

Your rebuilder must have installed a new STATOR windings. The rotor supplies the power to the stator windings which are AC, which then are RECTIFIED by the diodes to DC ....perhaps you must have misunderstood the repairs...possibly diodes were replaced as well.....fyi......

I'd vote for diodes as well. 90% of the alternator low output problems I've encountered in the last 50-plus years have been diode issues.

I guess you've not read my previous comments about automotive alternators and I won't rehash my position again.....as far as low alternator output (amperage).....the early alternator diodes were germanium and did not have the ability to withstand instantaneous short circuit and surges. The present day diodes use silicon as the junction material......superior in all regards to germanium material....which would explain early diode failures.......just a thought......

It's a shame , really. Could've been an asset to the site. ( potentially)
He probably has a lot of good information, but it didn’t take me long to skip over his posts and then finally hit the ignore button. I’m sure he’s probably a wealth of knowledge, but his presentation is wrong, so immediately you are put on the defensive and quit listening to anything he says.

I guess your definition is appropriate......giving credence to the old expression: "if the shoe fits....wear it"......but...the other side of the coin is.....a totally lack of understanding just hearsay, no real time experience.....just what they've been told as the gold standard......
