I'm considering buying a 66 satellite.
I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about this car. Triple black 66 satellite hemi 4 speed. Hurst equipped badge on trunk, redline firestones
My research finds
it sold in a Sotheby's fall auction auburn Indiana in 2013 for $61,600
Then it shows up again at Sotheby's fall auction 2014 werr it didn't sell
Then Sotheby's again in 2016 and sold for $44k
Sometime after that it came up to Canada.
Any info would be appreciated
Thanks

gtx6970 Might know something. I remember a car up in Canada for sale. Seems to me the consensus was It had been run hard in its life.

"Hurst Equipped" badges are 100% aftermarket. No Mopar factory car got those. Even the 1970 Hurst Chrysler 300.

Should be a stick on. So it should come off without damage.

The one you mentioned was a 67 gtx, yea it was raced hard in its early life. It was sold new in Winnipeg.
I kinda think it's a decent car but needs a big money restoration.

I mentioned the Hurst equipped badge only as a discription of the car. Thought possibly someone might remember it.
The car is updated to Hurst shifter, likley a long time ago. And I bet they added the badge. Be nice if it was a stick on

No worries.
Those emblems are just pet peeves of mine on original cars.
I’m pretty sure they’re all stick-on. No real warm to anything.

What's the vin?
Is there a data tag on inner fender,
Is there a build sheet ?

If so ck the SO number on the tag is same number stamped in the body

What exactly are you trying to find out ?

Is it a factory 3 way black car?

And for the record. It SHOULD have blue streak tires. Redlines were new for 1967s

And I agree, the Hurst badge was added later in life

I would be looking real close for body stamp numbers.

I dont see the leaf spring reinforcement

What should be there

( disregard the spring hanger on mine, Its aftermkt so I could lower the car )

I appreciate any and all critique on this car.

My plan is to go have a look at the car in person.
Is the number stamped in front of the rear bumper the same as a 67?

it's obviously not the original engine machining date is 4 8 66 and build date is 404 although this isn't a deal breaker with me. Current seller had the engine rebuilt.

I'd be curious to know why it crossed the auction block. Is it a turd that was bought without good advice and resold?

Current seller says he bought it out of Ohio
I know that 66 was blue line tirrs, once again my mentioning red lines was just to identify the car.

I have a picture file on the car from a few years ago.
But no notes in regards to any skeletons in its closet
keep in mind -
The only way to tie the vin to the body is with either the IBM card or the build sheet

But yes. Look for SO numbers stamped in the radiator support ( usually facing rearward semi hidden by the radiator )

And in the rear body panel, usually hidden by the rear bumper mounting bracket though.

As far as why it sold. Its hard to say, people get tired / bored of some cars and move on .
Others its more about the chase than final ownership.
Some its strictly to flip and make money on

PS, hood ornament is for a 1967 ,

What does the improper spring reinforcement tell you?

Could be any number of things.

I see in the 2013 RM auction listing the seller makes the claim that it is original engine. And it had a full frame off restoration.

As far as I know there isn't a broadcast sheet or punchcard with the car.
Punchcard would be the first thing I would do if I buy it.

Could be nothing . Maybe its there only hidden by the leaf spring bracket , maybe it was never there from factory , Mistakes did happen . So its not a 100% deals off deal breaker

BUT ,,,,,

I dont like to say it. It just raises some flags to inspect closely for signs of rebody

The rear spring reinforcements are there, ck for the added pinion snubber reinforcement and associated welds

For Sale: 1966 Plymouth Satellite in Celina, Ohio

I really appreciate your input.
Yea it's eyes wide open.
I'll check body stampings,
Carb numbers. Rad number.

Is there any way other than removing flywheel inspection cover to verify a 18 spline input shaft?
