I just got the '66 Charger about a week ago. 361, 104K.

It has a bad overheating problem. I am in the process of having the carb rebuilt and going thru the radiator.

I noticed tne Manifold Heat Control Valve shaft is froze up tight as Dicks hat band!

Hence my question;

Has anyone been able to fix this problem without pulling the exhaust manifold and moving the exhaust header to get to it?

Please let me know. I'll try anything.

Steve
ps. I'll take pics of the car once I can move it.

see my posts in the 66-67 Charger forum....if it's open, leave it alone...counter weight should be all the way to the left....or full counter-clockwise

if it's closed, remove it and plug the shaft holes with 1/8" pipe plugs.

being closed "could" be part of yer overheat issue...but probably not all of it

Bryan (we own 2 66 Charger 4-spd cars)

Gotcha.

I put it in both Forums to get more input.

Sorry if it caused a problem.
