69 and newer is a completely different deal.... In 69 the VIN is stamped in the fender tag, the trunk lip and the radiator support.. Not so on a 68...
Wow did not know that. I though 68 and 69 where stamped the same.69 and newer is a completely different deal.... In 69 the VIN is stamped in the fender tag, the trunk lip and the radiator support.. Not so on a 68...

Full disclosure.... I had no idea they were different till I got my 68 Coronet...I'd always played with 69/70 & 71 stuff.. Bought it off a guy who told me the whole story of coming home from Vietnam & getting the car & the girl....Wow did not know that. I though 68 and 69 where stamped the same.

Car was a mess, but it was so cheap I didn't even look at the tag, I'd seen the VIN & knew that said it was a real R/T convertible... Load it up & get it outta here before the guy changes his mind...The letter A in the VIN stamping indicates Lynch Road. GTXs were also built in St. Louis (G), and Los Angeles (E). I've owned seven, and six came from Lynch Road. Your car reminds me of my avatar, it looked similar before some cleaning up, after first purchase in 1983. Hard to find them in that kind of shape today. How do you know this is a Lynch Road Car?I haven't looked for build sheet yet?Hoping that it is there. There is a lot documentation with car. Here is some photos and I have not even got car home yet!Its running driving but rough!View attachment 1971945View attachment 1971946View attachment 1971947View attachment 1971948View attachment 1971949View attachment 1971950View attachment 1971951

I thought 68 didn't have stamped numbers on radiator support and trunk lip?More importantly, do the numbers on the right bottom corner of the tag match the stamping on the radiator support and trunk lip?
Do the engine and trans stamped numbers match the VIN?
It has numbers, they should match the SO number on the bottom right corner of the tag.... But they don't match the VIN..I thought 68 didn't have stamped numbers on radiator support and trunk lip?
