Cats are ok but they just kill the ones they catch

It's a bit late for it now but if you ever have your front fenders off put screens over the cowl drains. While restoring mine I looked for areas that would allow them to get inside, that's all I could find and have never had a mouse in mine.

I hate mice. Fortunately, there seems to have been a population boom around here lately in black snakes, garter snakes, owls, and foxes. I haven't seen much sign of field mice getting into anything in a couple of years, but those things make your life miserable. They really made themselves a castle in my '55 Plymouth.

I had a mouse/rat issue they came in a car and made there way threwout the garage. They were contained till two got in the laundry room luckily I got them trapped in there before they continued in the house . My in door cats were put in to get the two no dice I had to get them.
I brought in a professional for the garage I took the screen out of the side door window and placed some cat chow a few Tom cats in the hood came and went and took care of the issues .

That nest was made from my dad's Norwegian Elkhound's fur. Beings how my wife turned in to a cat lady before I died at least we don't have mice at our place.

Pure peppermint oil (you can buy it online) soak cotton balls in it and place them in a open cup, works. Mice can't stand the smell.

Peppermint oil works well.

Bucket method works good! I use a coat hanger through a plastic water bottle and some peanut butter! Splash!!

I usually use a wire coat hanger and run it through a coke can as a roller
If you don't want to kill them a bottle trap works really well also. Or a bowl of peanut oil

I can't believe he washes the mice!!
Once they're covered in cooking oil, the next logical step is........

I keep a mouse trap by each corner of the overhead doors (where they come in), as well as by the service door. They never make it past the entrance. I catch a good half dozen or so every year.

D-con pellets are not available at the local Home Depot or Lowes here in New Jersey.
Looked on E-Bay found people price gouging on the 4 pack of 3 oz pellets.

and the stuff they do sell works like ****!
they didn't even touch the garbage i put out a few weeks ago
saw one running by me yesterday
making a bucket or 2 is on my weekend list..

Been using a combination of things that until recently was working pretty well. A container of moth balls in a small container with holes punched in lid on floor under front and rear of car. Inside the car I have been using "Fresh Cab Rodent Repellent" that I got at Tractor Supply. Also some Decon enclosed, type traps bated with cheese spread, one in trunk, one in car and one under the hood. I like the fact that the traps are regular spring traps but keep the blood and/or entrails from getting all over what they are sitting on. The Fresh Cab has such a nice scent to me that I use it all year round as an air freshener, but too strong for the mice. The Fresh Cab is not poisonous either,(botanical), and comes in little bags. This combo served me quite well for years until this year as production was halted do to it being re-evaluated by some government agency. As a result, what I had was not as strong and I ended up with mice in the ceiling of my car, the little bastards! By the way, I also keep soup cans over my exhaust tips so they can't enter and make their way up through my straight through mufflers and nest in there. I also start the car at least every 2 to 3 weeks all winter long and run it up to temperature.

My favorite would be the sticky traps. They don't stink things up like moth balls and you can get a few of them on one trap. Plus you know how many there were unlike the Decon where you find a carcass or two months later. I don't have any mice in my shop but when I stored a car at another storage facility a few winters ago. I put a couple sticky traps in the trunk and interior. When I took the car out, there were two mice in the trunk trap and one in the interior. I found no damage so I guess it don't get much better than that.

A local shop owner ( and car collector) told me years ago, JUST PLANT MINT. I gotta admit, it works great. They do hate the smell, so I plant it around the barn and shed both. I've not had issues with them for years. In the winter, when I put the cars away, I rip some of the plants out of the ground, throw a bag of dead mint plants in the trunk and another in the floor inside the car. I also leave the trunk and hood open. Never a problem since. Back in the day, they have ruined some important stuff for me too.... Of course, you already know you don't want to leave temptation like Kleenex or rags laying around anyway.

And pull your sun visors down. I've seen some bad headliner damage because they were left up, creating a nice place for them.
