On my newly acquired 67 Belvedere the rear tires rub, now Im beginning to think it maybe the wrong year rear for the car.

Right now I have a 15x7, 3.76 BS Torq Thrust Ds on the car, I swapped the front tires to the back they are 215 70s and it still rubs, and it looks like the previous owner has already trimmed the wheel well lip.

What do yo guys think? Im pretty sure the rear isnt original to the car as the VIN says its a 6cyl car, so they probably swapped it in when they dropped in the 440. Is their stamping numbers on the housing that would ID the year? I know 68 and 69 are slightly wider or, maybe I just need to bite the bullet and ditch the torq thrusts.

Thanks again.

Kerplunk,

You don't have enough BS. I have 275/60/15 on my 66 Satellite. The wheels 15x8 with 4.5" of BS and they do not rub.

Thanks Slick,
I though I didnt have enough backspace too. I was planning on running 255/60s on 15x8, 4.5 BS, but after talking to a few people and using the RimsnTires calculator, 255/60 on a 15x8 with 4.5Bs will be slightly larger than Im running now. Here's a screenshot of the calculator.

BTW The wheels look awesome on your car!

Welcome to the 66/67 B body tire clearance issues! I have tested 15x7 with a 4.5" BS and a 15x8 with a 4.75" BS with good results. 15x8 is the max.
