Just put in an msd 6al2 box coil and pro billet distributor in my 66. Where does the tach wire go for the factoty tach? Do I hook it up to the sending unit? directly to the tach? Do I need the tach adapter and if so where does that tie in? I called msds tech line but all the guy could tell me was to hook it to the wire that came from the coil negative.

He's correct. There is a green wire (i beleive its green) from coil (-) to tach. The 6AL has a tach output wire that must connect to your tach wire. I'm not sure off hand the color of the wire coning off the MSD. Im not running a factory tach, but am running an el-cheapo Sun tach and it needed no tach adaptor, so perhaps the tech is right.

If I remember correctly, you can only use the tach terminal on the MSD box. The signal at the coil is misleading to the tach, and wil not read correctly.

I'm pretty sure your gonna need the MSD tach adapter to make your factory tach work.
