My "Free" 68 Road Runner

Was about to call it a night when I caught a peek at those stickers on the back bumper.

Just got done vacuuming a full mini wet dry vac worth of leaves and dirt out of it. I thought I did that once before?

Today's tasks were just quality of life things for working on it. Mostly cleaning. I've enacted a "Do one thing a day" rule to it. No matter how big or small I'll get one thing a day done. Doesn't matter if it's installing a part or ordering one.
Thats a good plan .. Set a goal for every day you work on it--keeps you motivated.......................MO

Awesome thread, just finished reading it. Congrats to you on being an awesome friend and scoring one hell of a ride!

Been working on the car a bit. Haven't been doing something a day but most days I'm out there doing a bit. Got my trunk weather stripping in the other day. Also got my alternator and brackets installed yesterday. I was working on installing the power steering tonight and something seems wrong. I don't think the brackets are factory and the pulley lines up with where the alternator pulley lines up.

I know something has been modified since the bracket seems to be cut and welded. Does the pump look correct though?

:rofl:I'd go look at mine for you...but my road runner has manly manual steering.....

and you've got that Southern Cal weather while I'm getting ready to hibernate!

2 1/2 years... I'm sorry all. But life has a way of kicking you when you're at your highest. In the time since my last updates I found the love of my life and promptly lost the job of my life. We had to move 3 times and the car went into storage and has been sitting ever since. We are now 1000 miles away from where I used to live and the car is FINALLY back into my garage and work can start on it again. :D

Its great to see you back jm8881. Yes life does have a habit of getting in the way. The good news is that you are all settled and still have the car. Get in done in your own time and the way you want it.

So 1000 miles away from SoCal? Where that Bee? Been wunderin what wuz up? Whatchya doin for a job
now? Let's hear some juicy stuff!

Oh man....life has put mine on the back burner for a number of years and after all of that, my 'love' of my life finally had enough of my crap and left! Now even though I still have the car, I'm not sure I can afford to put it back together. So much for putting it on the back burner all of these years.

Boise Idaho. The land of potatoes and me now.

Right now I'm working for a granite shop, before this I was doing casino software. Neither of which are particularly juicy lol.

Granite....software...pretty much the same job then? :) Seriously, thanks for the update. I've often wondered what became of the 'free' 'bird and I'm glad you still have it. Congrats on the new love life, and having a place to work on your car. Please update in less than another 2 1/2 years. :)

Great thread! Your way ahead of most of us with a free car. Looking forward to your updates.

I have often wondered what happened to your project. Glad to hear that you still have it and am looking forward to watching your progress.
