I always enjoy old Dixco tachs and the like.... Neighbor collected them, but I couldn't find the necessary equipment to run one w/ my electronic distributor for a reasonable price. I have a 90 deg sweep Sunpro Retro (http://www.summitracing.com/parts/sun-fz88r?seid=srese1&gclid=CKbKt4LWhsACFeRj7AodQFUAXg) to use on my car, but I may end up swapping a SW into the cup...

Thanks for putting that back up. I get discouraged by the trolls on this web site and just end up removing about half of my posts. This particular tach is a Jones-Motorola 4" tattle tale sold by Moroso. It even has the original gold anodized bracket found on almost every pro stock mopar dash board of the era. It is hooked up to a factory electronic tach drive distributor that I found in the clearance section of 440source.com of all places. It is basically an aluminum copy of a prestolite dual point distributor. I have a cast iron unit that is exactly the same outside of the casting material. One item of note is that the advance plate on the early electronic distributors required replacement of the magnetic pickup itself not the entire assembly like the late style distributors. that's what I do, makes for a more enjoyable Forum, it's a great but unfortunately sometimes needed option...

I ran a mechanical tach on my 68 road runner in the 80's and still have it and plan on using it again. It was hooked up to a cast iron distributor with a electronic conversion kit in it.....

Cool Tach, I had the Moroso cable drive back in the day on the drag car, no tattle tale, and surely never used all of the 10,500 rpm range.

If you ever had your hand on any one of the parts in the video you would know that a) the cable will not fit through the vent and b) it may be relocated to through the speaker hole once the dash pad is installed. I'd appreciate it if you would stay off of my threads.

Thank you for all of the feedback. I am most likely going to mount the tach forward and facing the driver more once we get the dash pad back in. The clutch exploded last Tuesday night so we have all new stuff coming from Passon Performance. Once I get the dash finished, windows rebuilt, and roll bar reinstalled we will pull the drive train. Out with the old 499 RB and in with a 511" low deck with MW CNC Edelbrock victors and a big solid roller. Still up in the air on using my 400-2 Indy and the HVH 250hp spray bar deal or the Indy tunnel ram. If we could sell our silver car there is a race car I'd like to pick up and use the spare 511" we have with the tunnel ram and a 4-speed lenco. Might make a cool street-strip deal.

What do you guys have laying around in the way of vintage speed parts? Perhaps we need a separate post?

I still have a Mr. Gasket Vert-i-Gate shifter from the first drag car and swapped some stuff years ago for a couple cable driven Rev-limiters. You know your getting old when stuff you bought new is now considered "Vintage"!

This is a '66 and the cable does not fit through the dash vents. Even if it did the cable would have to make a sharp angle and that is what I am trying to avoid.

You can't just post cool stuff like that without explaining how it works. Is there a splitter that runs the tach and RPM limiter?

I never could get used to the vertigate I had in a different car than the Charger above. I have been thinking about trying it again but hate to hack up the floor. How much has to be trimmed to fit that setup?

I know it will go down the vent also.... search my threads the second one or two about I've talked a bunch and here's my picks.... shows my 67.. this is not my first go around.... were here to learn and if I could I would break. Into you're garage and spend up all night and fix that ugly cable from going around the dash and tip toe out of ther ..... then wait and watch your face when you see how mutch better it would look.... as for Colorado Dave .. what do you have to offer here???? Join big brothers and sisters ... and now he is asking ... he rest of the car is assume... wow Jeremiah it is nice... fix that cable

It does not fit through the dash vent. Even if it did the tach would not be able to angle towards the driver without putting too much angle on the cable, etc. When the new dash pad comes the cable will route through a hole in the plate that is in place of the speaker hole.

Run it through the vent window and down the fender up and around for all I care... LOL... just some constructive criticism... I'm not going to hijack the thread with my pictures..you will have to dig... I'm not a big fan of those or any tach mounted to the dash. I'm looking into getting my retro automated one into the clock delete but will end up mounting it to the steering column centered over the clock.... My honest opinion...

I know you just blindly like everything and thank everyone... must be desperate for friends... but you must have to admit that cable belongs somewhere speaker hole or vent etc...
