My new to me 64 Polara

Weekend before last I had to wind down the torsion bars to drop the front end and pull the engine. About 2 inches on each adjuster while laying on my back. Two days later my shoulders were killing me.
Me too. I'm pretty pooped. Getting up and down a half dozen times adjusting the torsion bars did me in.

I noticed yesterday that I am missing the Pentastar on the RF fender. It appears they are supposed to be silver? I see 2 pins on them. Is there a special insert or do they just push in?

They weren't silver... some old ones appear to be, but it never happened.

Lookin good. I see you're missing the inner sill plates. If that hasn't been discussed
You know, I was wondering if something was missing there. I'll be on the lookout for those. My outers are original and trashed. The new ones sure brighten things up when you open the door. Thanks for pointing that out.

Well this is more fun. More period correct. Now I need to fix up that positive cable end. I hate those bolt on's. The battery kit comes from Weskcar through E bay.

I hate those bolt on clamps to. That was one of the first things I did when I got my car was rip off the battery cables and get new.

I see you found a group 24 with caps. I couldn't find one anywhere and ended up buying a group 27. Heavy isn't the word for it. All new batteries are being produced with a sealed top now.

Weskcar for me too :)

Looks great. That's just a fun little low dollar fix that adds to the look. Yep, there is a lot of lead in those 27 series batteries.

I have a transmission leak and I have a good friend that is a seasoned transmission tech. He is also a Mopar fan. "Bring it down and we'll get the leak fixed" I will see him this Saturday. It will be a fun 2 hour (one way) highway cruise. Before I went cruising down the highway I wanted to get the front end looked at and aligned. That was this last Tuesday. The upper ball joints had a little play but he still aligned it. The steering wheel ws off center to the left and it had a healthy pull to the right. One of the right side eccentrics had moved throwing off all the angles. He moved it back and cranked it down and everything came back close to spec. A little fine tuning and it was in good shape again.

Chapter 2. It still has a good pull to the right. I have been noticing that when I start it the wheel will turn itself to the right a quarter turn or so. I asked around here and you guys came through with the fix. I remember adjusting something on the steering gear to correct the situation. I adjusted the top plate, went the wrong way and it was worse. I over adjusted it the other way and it is 90% better. The pull went away and it doesn't turn itself when I start it. The alignment tech noticed it when he reached in to start it to check the caster. . With the front wheels on the turntables and almost no resistance, the wheel just took off to the right. :BangHead: :BangHead:

Oh, @Scott Engelhardt knows the guy at 5th Street Tire. He services their equipment.

Add a plastic floor pan plug to the parts list. I noticed one missing when it was on the alignment rack. Transmission leak get's fixed tomorrow (Sat.) I will get a better chance to look it over then. Lon (lkopaska) from FABO has been a transmission tech for decades and he said to bring it on down. We can fix the leak and sample some whiskey.

Too bad someone doesn't make exhaust tips that mimic the correct original type tail pipes. I want to get rid of the straight chrome tips but don't want just a simple turn down. Back to look at my exhaust tip thread. Early B body tail pipe tips
