1. It ain't California
2. Still can acquire Guns and Ammo and shoot to my hearts content
3. It's the Silver State and I buy Bullion a lot

In addition to the 3, I love the tax friendly attitude and the very Veteran friendly pro support I receive since relocating here...cr8crshr/Bill:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::usflag::usflag::usflag:

1- Niagara Fall, just the view the town is pretty run down.

2- Summer is usually real nice, although this summer was hot.

3- Finger Lakes is an amazing area

The 3 best things about Illinois, 1) O'Hare airport, 2) Midway airport, 3) I 80, all of them lead out.

Ohio

We get 4 seasons here (although I'm not a huge winter fan)

Home of the Mopar Nationals

We're 4 hours away from Carlisle

1) Beauty of being surrounded by the Great Lakes
2) Pride of the Motor City
3) Woodward Dream Cruise Days
4) Great roads (NOT)
5) Living all 4 seasons sometimes on the same day

I guess I'm only the 2nd post from Wisconsin? My birthplace, since my dad had already transferred here for his job from IL. We have great towns were you're away from the big city (if you can say Milwaukee is actually one) and have all ya need with a rural setting...I like rural though was raised in the Milw burbs but were still pretty sparse back then. Live some 10 miles from where I grew up where cruised around town, all the muscle car bud's, the hot summer nights with the top down, the gals I dated from high school and around the area, the drive-ins and two outdoor theaters we once had, now gone. Every so often run through town where most of it has changed with a few old landmarks remaining. Western part of our state is beautiful with large hills and sparsely populated. Was never a winter fan; bowling was my winter sport (2 leagues) all that is over. Always wanted to move to a warmer climate (used to golf a lot back when that's done too as spend more time putzing with my old mopar anyway) as several buds have done; but not sure if this will happen, one kid is here and another in FL now. Suppose it's just roots that makes the difference thinking on all of the nice places to relocate. Packer fan and own some shares (really means squat) but the team is publicly owned, and recall the glory days, the decades of chit, and resurgence of a good team when Brett, Wolf, and Hologrem came along. Hey, we got nice H20 by the Great Lake...weather for most part isn't overly threatening unless you're unlucky enough to be in the path of a tornado. If you're not from here, ya may never elect to come here unless your job takes you here...what can I say?

Allow me to add couple comical experiences I had being from the Milwaukee WI area when I had to travel around for my job: I spent 6 weeks in a job training program in NY City, one of my classmates was from NY asked me where I was from...I said Wisconsin and he seriously looked confused replying "Is that near California". Another time on a biz trip to our Phoenix office was asked the same question and I replied Milwaukee area. He also had to think then said "Is that where that guy is from that eats people"? I thought to myself well WTF, Milwaukee's claim to fame, Jeffrey Dahmer!

I apologize as I haven’t read all the previous posts. But I have lived all over the country (Delaware, Texas, Alaska, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Georgia, New Jersey) and I chose NJ to settle in for 33 years (for the time being at least). NJ has the shore (water sports and fishing), the mountains (skiing) and proximity to Philly and NYC. I hate the property taxes and politics (same thing?) here, but the shore surely makes up for those. Traffic is mostly lousy. People are not so friendly - generally. But the self-employed opportunities are through the roof. I’ve been self-employed (forensic engineering) since 2012 and every year since has been 50% better than the year before. I can fly anywhere in the world for free (thanks USAF!), so I may just hop on the next plane and do that (depends on the little woman). Right now, I’m just enjoying life, family and friends here.

I forgot to say that I live in the woods and have great neighbors and friends nearby.

Iowa.
1) it's not on the east coast
2) it's not on the west coast
3) it's not on the south coast
Flyover farm country is just right for me. 4 seasons(usually) and nice people with common sense.

I can't really say it any better.

Here in The Mitten, we can use our hand as a map! We also have dynamite fishing and hunting, and spectacular scenery all throughout the state. Oh, and that upper peninsula, nobody else has one of those!

Yep, no one else has an upper peninsula: just how is it Wisconsin hasn’t absconded with that piece? Were they just too preoccupied making cheese, or too drunk from their beer to not notice you guys had a piece of their ‘lan? Treachery or brilliance on MI?

Enquiring mind from the left coast wants to know.

I believe we got it in the deal that gave Ohio Toledo, which almost caused a war between Ohio and Michigan. In the end, we gave up the right to Toledo in exchange for that “worthless” piece of land up there. Some of the most beautiful things that can be seen are up in the UP, it’s truly a magical place.

That’s some funny sh*t right there man. They had to keep Toledo...lol

It's history and its coastline. Yes, there's only two things.

I can do far better than, just 3;

great car culture (despite the govt. & all that comes with the great climate.)
great parts suppliers, thousands of car related businesses/manufacturing
great racing & tracks (usually available 10 or more months a year)
great driving adventures (rural road trips, stay away from freeways, especially during commute)
great weather (pretty hard to beat Calif. for it's weather 7 of every 10 years, it's spectacular)
great golf & great golf courses (great weather is a huge part of that)
great sports state, professional & amateur alike
great fishing, ocean, rivers, streams/creeks or lakes
great hunting, an abundance of wildlife
great camping, an abundance of great campgrounds
great recreational activities & parks (partially because our weather)
great skiing, an abundance of great resorts (abundance of ski bunnies)
great wages/income (If you want to work, you can make a great living here)
the Pacific Ocean
great surfing (with beach bunnies)
almost a 1000 miles of great beaches (again abundance of beach bunnies)
great vast wide open rural spaces (most outsiders are clueless as to what Calif. has)
beautiful scenery (sometimes, as far as the eye can see)
great California Girls (scantily dressed 10-11 months of the year)
great awesome sites of Yosemite Valley (way too many tourists from everywhere else)
all of the mountains & rural Calif. (abundance of spectacular conservative people)
great agriculture (we have vast amounts of open farmland, dairy's & ranching,
all feeding the US or world, it's far more then the rest of the US or the world perceives
)
Most years I can wear shorts & tee-shirt, sandals for 10-11 months,
for 300+ days a year
Almost all my family is from here & most are still living here,
I'm from & born here, my family has been here for many generations...

the negatives are;

state income taxes
sales taxes (that don't get used properly)
Earthquakes (really are few & far between)
Shitty Maj. Politics (need I say more)
Hollyweird/Celebrity view points (that don't match most of Calif.'s residents)
higher cost of living than many places, less than others
too many illegals freeloading (politics)
too many panhandlers, welfare-ites in the inner-shitty (politics)
too many transients from elsewhere (that have screwed up the once great state)
poor water management (politics)
poor forestry & fire management (politics)
Media perceptions, people being clueless what California really is like,
they only believe **** the get fed by media or propaganda
IF you stay away from the bigger shitty's & politics, it's near perfect place...
If not for the corrupt politics, state income taxes & the inner-shitty's
crowded freeways (it's not like that away from them, out in Rural Calif.),
it'd be a far better place, just like it was for my 1st 40+ years here...
Most all the negatives are attributed to lousy leadership in our politics...

so good I posted it twice :poke:
just for those Negative Nancy's detractors & whiners/complainers
out there, that constantly talk negative **** about US

We gave up the Lions in exchange for the Packers as part of the deal. Well we also mighta been too drunk to notice when Youper was stolen from us...we haven't sobered up enough yet to figure it out.

That’s some funny sh*t right there man. They had to keep Toledo...lol

Actually, the truth is that Toledo was a very highly sought after area of land, because of its connection to the Mississippi River and the St Lawrence seaway. That wasn’t built yet, but the route through the Great Lakes made it a very desirable commodity. If you look at the bottom of the state of The Mitten, you will see that it has a jog along the southern border where it meets Ohio. What would’ve been straight across had to be jogged to accommodate the deal. And, if you read the history books, it was the only time there was a threat of a naval battle on an inland lake, which was just narrowly diverted in the treaty!
