I know there are many types of systems. You have flowmaster, pypes, jegs, summit and many in between. Was wondering if anybody has used anything else and maybe another company to look at before I make a decision.

All your help and advice is appreciated. Forgot to add it is a freshened up 440, 30 over, ported and polished iron heads using headers to flow from the engine.

Used the summit system on a couple different cars, for the money you cant beat it.

Yeah, I was actually gonna suggest the Summit system but I wasn't sure what car it was. I just put a Summit system on my Ranger and it's nice.

I put on the Exhaust from Accurate Exhaust.

I had to tell them which exhaust manifolds i had on my GTX and they sent me the stuff from the manifolds back including the tips.
clamps, hangers etc.
All went very well and fit like a glove. I love the sound, not loud, but gives the 440 gives the sound of "authority" in there.

If you can find a slightly used setup from TTI then jump on it. I found one for my ride a number of years back, jumped on the price...at the time 375.00... with the Dynomax Mufflers/Flo-Me's are too tinny for my taste... and with a few additional pieces of hardware and the TTI Head pipes running from HP Manifolds, hooked it up and it is awesome and the sound is great...see links for exhaust note....

There's a lot of differing opinions on crossovers. I don't think they are all they are cracked up to be. I KNOW this much. They take the "crispness" out of the exhaust note. I dont give a rat's *** whose dyno says what, I ain't runnin one. Even Doug Thorley hisself has said the same thing.

You know I am pretty new at this and have only been told that a crossover helps with the balancing of the exhaust flow and ultimately helps the whole system. I appreciate your honesty on this. Thats why I was asking, because I figured I would get the best advice here.
Thanks

I don't know to much about HP gains on the crossover pipe, But I know one thing.....there's a big difference in the sound.

I have the H pipe on my other car, (which I won't name), and it made a big difference in the sound and IMO better throttle response.

I plan on installing a system on my 66 Coronet in the near future & I plan on doing the H pipe with it.

013.jpgmake your own H or purchase X.....I would have preferred the X, but I am an old timer...Flomaster exhaust mufflers..just my 2Cents

Do yourself a favor if you do the H-pipe and have that portion made with a split in the H with a clamp to tie it together. This will save you some access headaches and cuss words during future repairs.

I did the same thing paid $300 for an H pipe and back system (1 year use, garage kept) from a member here.

Great fit except the collector pipes had a kind of an odd angle.

Local exhaust shop charged $100 to fab head pipes with my flanges. Came out great.

Agree flowmasters are very tinny to my ear, much prefer dynomax or even magnaflow.

that sounds like a set - up for street.....bet you can clean up a lot of "drivers" out there!
with 1967 Dodge Coronet 440. 1966 383 stock lower end. Mopar Performance cam. Edlebrach Torker II intake, Holley 750 4 bbl, Hooker Super Comp ceramic coated headers and TTI 3" X pipe exhaust with Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers.....I'ts like music!

is there something wrong with your keyboard Sonny? i think that's the first sentence I've seen you post that didn't start with these letters ... "S-o-n-n-y" :)

mucho gracias Sonny! I like the red and the white interior and the way it contrasts with the black dash/carpet etc. If i replace the top i've thought about going white but it came with a black top .... looks kind of sinister with the black top up, but i think white might be better looking. what more could i want? ... well that would only be 4 speed and 3.54 dana :)

There's absolutely nothen' wrong with Flowmasters, especially the mandrel tubing 3" Flowmasters Muscle car system, but w/Delta Flow 50 series mufflers instead of the std. 40 series, they sound freaken' great especially with a H-Pipe & tail pipes all the way out the back... by the way I went 9.77 @ 135mph with the full system on, only picked up a little under 2 tenths un-capped after taking it off & most of that difference was because of the 100+lbs of weight {they aren't lightweight}, I also went 8.58 @ 156mph with a 300 N20 shot same combo, in my old 68 3520# RR... the Delta 50 series is allot better sounding than the 40's, well quitter & not as much drone that some people complain about.... Accurate Exhaust or TTI are a great fitting system too, also expensive... I always run an H-Pipe or an X-Pipe, it equalizes & actually helps to draw the lazy exhaust stuck in the pipes from the other side & the delta flow mufflers actually create a slight vacuum in the exhaust to draw out & get a little scavenging effect to the exhaust, add that with a set of Flowmaster's Scavenger Series 4-2-1 Collectors & you will have a great unbeatable combo... DynaMax supposedly makes a great free-flowing race muffler too.... good luck what ever you decide to run...
