I think both look great but I do like the darker (latest) version better.

Hey 68coronet, Both colors look great on the car, but I'm obviously partial to the darker hue--looks beautiful on your car!!! Under intense lighting, all colors "pop" a little more--almost look like two different colors--another reason I'm partial to the darker shades. Post some pics as you progress--I'm looking forward to seeing the finished project.

Heck, both paint jobs look great. Sharp looking Coronet you got there.

X2, Just curious... was it just the wrong shade ?? what's the differences ?? was there pearl in the 1st batch ?? it appears to be maybe a slightly littler darker &/or less gold reflection, but it's at a completely different angle, with the sun reflection, so it's kind of hard to tell, between the 2 colors on my computer anyway... Looks really nice thou

????????

I would have been shitting twinkies just to have the first paint job on any of my cars

Well long story short. The first paint job was a rootbeer candy. It was suppose to be a red base and 6 coats of candy which was how the test panel was shot. However the house of kolor base got misplaced and a similar glasurit base was mixed. Well last week we found the misplaced base and it didnt match the base that was mixed, hence the orangy look. The paint was layed out flawlessly but the color just wasnt what I had spent countless hours searching for. After that it was another month long project convincing them that the color was wrong because the test panel got misplaced too....yeah right. I was looking for the second color the first time. This time I just went simple. The guys that painted my car did a phenomonal job. I also cant wait for it to be finished. If you want to see the car before check out this youtube video.

beautiful color, great choice. I like the first one too though.

Oh plus I forgot the part where he only put 4 coats of candy on the first one. In the picture of the first paint job that was the best angle here are the rest of them.

Great looking car - you will have to post up more pictures. If changing from the stock exterior color, picking what works for you is the hardest part of a rebuild. I can understand why you want the color that you spent so much time trying to find. I am going through this color choosing dilemma right now also. By the way - I think both colors look really nice on your Coronet.

Great looking car. What city was it painted in? Someday it'll be my turn and I'll be looking for a good painter.
