A few weeks ago I received a new replacement radiator .
Instaĺlation was fairly fairly straight forward .
The warranty paperwork made it clear that only premixed 50/50 coolant can be used .
To use straight coolant and mix it yourself will void any warranty .
Does anyone have any idea why ?
Thanks

They most likely figure that today's mind set of many people is to stupid to be able to mix it 50-50. Post a copy of the warranty .

On the other hand, if it doesn't leak on day one it'll probably outlast the warranty by half a century !!

ECP radiator. They want to see a receipt for premix for warranty.

I just got my 3rd radiator from them today. Frank, the guy I deal with there made it a point to tell me this when I ordered mine. I asked about this. He said they have so many people trying to return them and they can tell from the corrosion present, they’re mixing the straight coolant with tap water instead of distilled. When bought pre-mixed it takes that out of the equation.

That's so funny. My whole life we always mixed 50-50 with tap water and never had a corrosion issue or any issue for that matter with the mix.

I'm near 75 years old and have been mixing tap water with coolant all my LIFE with no problems! Agree, must be some shoddy materials being used in those rads.

I almost always use distilled water. I figure its a cheap and readily available. And cheap insurance against corrosion.

I did that too when I put a water pump on my son's '06 Cummins Ram. Everything else I have been using tap water I figured it was cheap enough to do.

Same here, until I guess 15 or 20 years ago. I’m 67. I also take out the petcock and install a sacrificial anode. They’re pretty ate up after awhile. I never used to do that either. Maybe it’s the aluminum radiators that are used so often these days. ‍♂️

I spent several years developing antifreeze formulas for Peak, Prestone, etc. Tap water makes your radiator corrode faster. Well water is the worst. Distilled, deionized or RO (reverse osmosis) water only cost $1/gallon. Use good water
