Not a movie, but we've been really into Blindspot lately. It's a series, we're watching it on Netflix, it ran from like '15-'20. Great writing, amazing action scenes, and its all completely centered around this woman (Jaimie Alexander) and her body (covered in tattoos, which are the "keys" to solving crimes):

...there's worse things to center a series on, I suppose...I'm not huge on tattoos, but they certainly picked a beautiful canvas! The supporting cast is also quite good, even though there aren't any real "big" names (although Lou Diamond Phillips was in a couple episodes). And like I said, the writing is really good and she - literally - kicks *** in this show. Great fight scenes and legitimate (think John Wick) firearms handling - I wouldn't want to piss her off! We catch 3 or 4 episodes a night lately, we're mostly through season 1 now I think.

Agreed...wife and I watched that every week when it was on TV. Great series.

The other one with excellent scripting is "The Blacklist" with James Spader.

I saw Top Gun Maverick the other night on Paramount +, we got it free for a week
It was pretty good, for a Tom Cruise flick, most all the Mission Impossible flicks,
like 7 of them IIRC, were pretty decent, for Tom Cruise flicks

'Hell on Wheels' was pretty good, for a mini-series, (from a few years back)
I saw on Tubi (IIRC) free, several episodes like 10+ (?)
old western style, A guy Rebel, working for the railroad after the civil war
trying to get the continental railway thru to the west, dealing with the Chinese & Irish
a bunch of shady characters, lots of different plots
lots of shoot em' up & fights, decent writing, decent acting & plot plan too

worth watching
I don't say that much about modern stuff
