No 1st gear

I have a 63 Sport Fury with a push button trans all the gears work fine except first gear button suddenly wont engage. Any suggestions?

@Photon440 , I believe was asking if the transmission itself shifts through low, second, and drive when you select D, or does the transmission not go to low gear at all.

To OP, the cable not quite adjusted correctly. Just my opinion.

FSM details the procedure to adjust the shifter cable. There is supposed to be a small bolt that locks the adjuster collar. This may have been omitted and the proper adjustment has been lost.

When driving and it shifts through 1,2,3 with the Drive button pushed, your cable adjustment is probably okay. It might be a broken or bent leaver inside the shifter behind the 1st button.
