69 RR New front shoes from NAPA and drums cut 1- they are broken in when first applied for 1 second go left then rt then straight. 2 - when slowing form high speeds (80mph) abruptly (if you traveled on RT80 in jersey you know!) the breaks first slow you then go away when heated. I did not have any problems with old shoes but don't know were they came from please recommend new shoes THANKS

The shoes are NOT broken in yet. Back in the day, the shoes were ground on a machine to re-arc them to fit the drums. If you too the drums off, you would see that there is very little wear, and likely just in the middle of the shoe. I did the same, and blew thru a stop sign at the end of our road due to this. The more you drive it, the better it will get. As far as the brake "fade", that is what drums do when they get hot.

I will check the brakes were installed by me 1 year ago THANKS !!!

As 69Bee stated this happens when drums are turned. As far as pulling from side to side as you stated re-adjust you brake till the pull goes away.If it pulls left on first apply the tighten the right a few clicks then try again. Trial and error with 50+ year old drum brakes.

Once you get them close, find you a parking lot and back up and pump the brakes several times and they will self adjust.
