Did a T-bone and some sausage and I'm done. About to jump into the redneck pool!! Ate some of the T-bone and a half piece of sausage and I'm happy
Not happy with 99 out though....looks like July part II
Hot here too. I have a couple pork butts on the smoker. Been on for 5 hours so far. I haven't opened the lid yet. Probably better do that.Did a T-bone and some sausage and I'm done. Dang! Where do you live again? I'm hearing my electric bill is going to double but my last bill was 136 and during the day, the stat is on 78-79 unless it's 101-102 outside and that's happened several times in July and then it's on 80. Night time it's usually on 77-78. Not sure when my contract expires but thinking it's not going to be good.....Looking forward to enjoying some of that heat/humidity when we move to Texas. Just got my electric bill……$492! We keep the house at 80 and in the evening turn it down to 78. My wife doesn’t use the stove in the summertime, just to keep the house from getting too hot.
T stat set at 77°Getting closer. Almost to 190°. I pull them at 203°Hot here too. I have a couple pork butts on the smoker. Been on for 5 hours so far. I haven't opened the lid yet. Probably better do that.

And the accompanying drink will be ..... ?
Almost gone. Getting close to a bottle kill. 128.6 proof. What's not to like. And the accompanying drink will be ..... ?
That's pretty cheap. Are you all electric? Used to have nat gas and that was mainly for heat in the shop but it got too expensive so had it shut off.My bill runs about $100 a week.![]()

What's your propane run for the water heater? Mine is electric but it's off more than it's on. It has a timer on it but I kick it on and off manually. It's a 50 gallon rig and my youngest would run it cold nearly every night taking her 'steam shower' and ran it while she shaved her legs AND arms and no telling what else. Had to wait on hot water to take my shower. Man, that kid was something else. At least she never ended up in jail like the oldest one did.I'm in Calif. Tuolomne Co. at some altitude,
almost 1700sgft wood sided house, built 1989, newer comp 50 year roof
we get 100*+ temps I keep the A/C at 77* & heat at 68*
my dad keeps turning it up to 80* in summer & 75* winter
I have to keep ontop of it or it's a crazy bill
last few nights haven't cooled off hardly at all
even with great insulation, & 18"s blown in the attic
the house gets heat soaked,
stays at like 75*-78* overnight, even when the temps drop to like 69*
& my PG&E bill was $136 for July, it was HOT, still is HOT
it was like for $75 May & $95 June, albeit mild months for here
usually a lot hotter
My highest bill has been like $200 in the winter,
like Jan is the coldest & snowiest & dad keeps turning the damn thing up
& PG&E isn't cheap,
we have all new-ish electric appliances in the past decade, way more efficent
newer (10+ years now) much more efficient
Bryant 4 tone HVA/C split unit all electric...
We used to have a swamp cooler & whole house fan on the roof,
way way too pricey for electric usage, kwph, was triple of now...
The only propane we have is water-heater now
we used to pay about $200-$300 a month, just for propane,
even with co-op prices/discounts thru SIRs
We can't get natural gas up here, too much granite to dig thru
our PG&E bill has gone down like 1/2 at a min. since too,
maybe 100cuft a year of propane now,
instead of 150-300cuft a month at $2.50-$5 per/cuft
I figure I'm saving $2500+ - $3000+ annually now,
not paying for an old 'inefficient' HVAC unit & propane
anytime is a good time to grill
just too fucken' hot out on the deck, to stand out there & watch it
put the stuff on the Weber, close it & come back in 10 min.s (or whatever)

Nat gas around here isn't very cheap....but don't know about now because I had it shut off over 15 years ago. I was a 'seasonal' user mainly to heat the shop and the company started charging too much for cutting it off and on and the monthly rate for not using any went up too much. Now I just grin and bear it. Usually isn't that cold here anyways and when it is, I use a propane heater. Also use a couple of electric space heaters in key areas.I’m in Commiefornia, Shandon, Commiefornia to be exact. My natural gas portion of my bill is $15. PG&E is nothing but crooks, they are “GUARANTEED” by the CPUC, a certain amount of profit every year.
I like using our smoker (Pit Boss) very similar to Trauger. It cooks to perfection but with the cost of beef, we don’t get to eat it as much so it’s chicken mostly.
