Hi everyone,
i am totally stuck. I stalled a Milodon stock cover line external kit #21001, a Milodon #31581 circle track pan, and the Mildon pump shaft #21525. I used a drill counter-clockwise to prime the pump and it built pressure which I could feel through the load on the drill after about five seconds. After oil system built pressure it started to lose pressure and the drill started spinning faster and faster. I have pictures below of all the parts. I checked the pressure relief valve and it looks perfect. The pump is a Melling HV pump with maybe 300 miles on it. The pan has 7.5 quarts. I checked the filter by cutting it open and it was pristine. I took the valve covers off and the rockers and pushrods look correct. The oiling system was working perfectly before I changed it (because I needed the ground clearance of the new pan). I am completely stumped. It's like it starts to build pressure then it has cavitation. The internal pickup is blocked at the Milodon adapter plate so I concidered that as well. I also pulled the oil pump and put greased it to create vacuum.

I ordered another m63hv oil pump tonight to see if that solves the problem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just spit-balling here,
IF the pump is still good, pressure relieve is installed properly
& everything else is installed properly too...
Maybe ???

Bad oil filter or if it's a bypassed style filter bypassing
because a blockage or collapse internals etc.???

Picking up something in the pump pick-up screen or in the pan ???

Debris silicone or gasket material possibly ??
or not enough clearance in the pan & it's sucking down to the bottom of the pan ???

I doubt it's be caveatting/sucking air with a drill motor speed,
but stranger things happen...

Too much clearance between the rotors & the pump face, loosing pressure ???

Probably not BUT;
galley pugs all installed ???
{IIRC you said it was working fine before, pertains only if it's a fresh build}

anyway that's a few things

good luck

I really appreciate the recommendations. I am installing the new pump and filter and I will keep everyone up to date so we will have this as a resource.

So... I figured it out. I pulled the pan and plugged the internal pickup in the block and the oil pressure came right back. ANYONE that orders this Milodon kit heads-up. The instructions don't tell tell you to plug the internal pickup or give you a plug. The Milodon spacing plate is suppose to cover the internal pickup at the oil pump but I guess because of the gasket design it doesn't work. The kit was the Milodon 21001.

Good to hear you fixed it too...

thanks for the updates
