I did a cam swap in my 75 360. I have #1 at TDC. What direction should the slot in my oil pump drive be pointing to make sure I have room for my vac advance pod and dist adjustment? Also, is there a trick to getting the hex end into the slot while rolling the helical gear into place? Thanks in advance

I believe the service manual says to line the slot up with the driver's side rear most intake manifold bolt hole. Seems I've seen it in print somewhere. At least, that's how I do it and it turns out good. As for lining up the oil pump, use the primer tool to turn the oil pump a little and then install the intermediate shaft.

if you are having problems installing the distibutor take a look at the bottom and make sure there are no sharp edges and or burs that will catch the pump drive.a little sanding goes a long way.

Line up the slot so it is "PARALLEL" with the Cam. That will set up you distributor so the Rotor will pint to the #1 cylinder. Make sure though that you get the engine to TDC before you put the intermediate shaft into the oil pump...
