One more 69 road runner build

Because this car will have a stroker motor I am using US Car Tool frame ties and torque boxes. This way it will look stock appearing to the untrained eyes.
Here is some of the prep work coating the inside with POR15

Also etch primed the area under the rails before putting them in place. Taking steps to preserve the car a bit better then the factory did.

With the extra time staying in I am making the best of it. All welded in. Still need to fit the torque boxes another day.

Man, Dave! Look at you go! The work looks great. I was curious how much rust you were going to find, but I knew it wouldn't be much. I'm almost done with my degree. We should do lunch. I'd love to see how she's shaping out. So glad that 999 car ended up with you. It's going to be gorgeous. ~Lindy~

Thanks Lindy
I will have you over soon to see the progress in person. Thanks again for your help.

Took a break from bodywork and did a little emblem detail pretty good for 51-year-old emblems
Started by soaking them in the lacquer thinner to remove all the old black paint. Had to use a brass brush to clean in all the cracks and grooves.

Any new updates, Dave? Man, you're going to have that thing in color before I see it! Looking good, bro.

A little more progress. I will be using Vintage Air rather than the bulky stock system. Cleaning the fire wall up as the new Vintage Air routes the hoses in the upper part of the fender.

Lower core support was all mangled Typical of a 50+ Year old car.
Used a US car tool replacement. Nice part and much stiffer.

Spraying it with a non-glare semi gloss black from Sems. It replicates the original finish very well
