Paxton Blower

Well just be prepared to pay for any problem that may show up when driving home. I like leaving town with a blank credit card. LOL

Well I've decided to drive this 1970 Dart to Denver, from LA. 1050 miles. Seems to be running fine so far, changed the oil in it last night. First thing any car that I buy gets, new oil and a filter. Cheap insurance. Road trip, here we go!

Have fun... I know I would in a supercharged RB A body:lol:

Good luck on your voyage.

Not sure if I want to keep this blower on here, as it runs pretty good without it. I'll see once i get home and have a chance to put the belt back on, and experiment with it. Took the belt off this morning, and it's running really good, normally aspirated. Not sure which way I'm going to go, but it may be up for sale in the future if anyone is looking for a complete set up.

What are you hoping to accomplish by not running the belt???

I think you are wasting your time taking off the belt and disconnecting the housing on top of the carb. There is a reason why they put an external oil feed line to the supercharger. To feed the bearings. Hook it back up and run it! As long as it was tuned properly you should have no problem. They are designed to be used every day.
You are not running a blower that produces 30psi at 1700 rpm. That would be something to worry about.

Housing is still on top of the carb, and pulling filtered air thru the blower. I noticed there is an additional filter inside the blower hat. I will hook the belt back up when I get to Colo, and have to go over 11,000 foot Vail Pass. May need it then. LOL Takes 5 minutes to do the belt. Had to remove it anyway to pull the AC belt and compressor off. A/C lines and controls aren't hooked up. Plus I'm getting a good baseline idle speed, timing, and idle mixture adjustment. This car actually has a timing retard knob on the dash. You can retard the ignition timing up to 4 degrees from the driver seat! ANYONE INTERESTED IN A GOOD USED A/C PUMP?

Well, made it to Grand Junction. Had to stop at an O Reillys in Utah and replace the voltage regulator and dist cap. It started missing between 80 and 90, but the new cap fixed that! May put the blower belt back on in the morning for tha last 250 miles. See how that affects the gas mileage. Right now getting about 12 MPG. LOL

Car ran great cruising for 2 hours at 85 MPH ON THURSDAY NIGHT, going from Green River Utah to Grand Junction. Then on Friday morning I accidentally damaged the radiator, at the hotel in Grand Junction. Stop leak wouldn't fix this one. LOL . So I called Moparmarks, who lives there and specializes in old Mopars. He had a 6 cyl radiator with the correct side hose outlets, and he kindly let us use his shop to install it. The fan wouldn't fit in, so being that we would be on the highway for the last 250 miles, we left it off. Water temp never got over 190, even going over 10,000 foot Vail Pass. Then on the way up to the Eisenhower Tunnel, the alternator stopped working. It was getting dark, too. Waited until we were through the tunnel to turn on the lights because after that it was downhill most of the way to Denver. Still had to stop in Idaho Springs and charge the battery for 45 minutes. Plus the 727 trans would occasionally release the high clutch, and the motor would rev up as if it were suddenly thrown into neutral. Found it had a small leak, so had to add tranny fluid a few times. It's $8 A quart in Glenwood Springs! Arrrgggg! Got home about 9 30 pm, and the battery was almost dead! Anyway, the end of an exciting 1000 mile journey. May do it again next week. NOT!!! .....THANKS AGAIN MOPARMARKS, and all my friends at FBBO!
