I have a 1966 Satellite with the 318 poly and a 727. I know little about the Poly engine so my question is will the 727 in the Satellite bolt up to a 383?

I know I'm going to get grief here but why not keep the Poly and stroke it. There are lots of engine build and speed articles on the web or search 318 Poly here on FBBO and there's info, both pro and con. The cons will say it's too costly and you can get more HP for less money with an engine swap, and they would be correct - there are few speed parts for the poly and they're expensive. I did my Poly with the help of Gary P. for my '66 Belvedere. The other thing is I enjoy even MOPAR guys looking at the engine and saying 'what the hell is that.'
Good luck with the build.

A '66 727 can easily swap the internals into a BB case. Or get a BB 727. Changing the 727 to the BB case/trans will be lots less expensive than dealing with up powering a Poly.

I might be the only one that agrees. :D

Bored and stroked Poly 318 will give you 390 ci and you have the benefit of the semi hemi heads.

You get bragging rights of, "it's just a 318"

Yessir! I'm running a 350 Poly with a .030" clean up on stock bore, with help from Gary Pavlovich.

Hey, I agree. I’ll be doing a stroked 318 for my 63 Fury. I bought one of the Windtunnel intakes when they first came out, sold my Weiand. Bruce Toth and Gary Pavlovich are the guys to talk to about the Poly engines.

66 and earlier input shaft and reaction shaft fit the early converters only. They have a small diameter 19 spline input shaft. Swapping these two parts will allow the use of any 67 and up non lock up converter. Keep both parts together from the same style trans. 3 types that will work; 67-70 narrow bushing; 71 and newer wide bushing with 2 rings; 3 ring wide bushing non lock up. Lock up will be machined smooth for about a 1/2” on the nose of the shaft. It will also have a different spline count. Other than that it’s a simple bolt in swap.

Another vote for stroking the poly - but I don't think the stroker kits for the 318 LA will work - you will need custom pistons as the valve reliefs will be different. As stated above Gary Pavlovich can supply all the info and parts you need.

just need some fuel and air to make your poly run , how about this ? and afb's fit it .

Think I could come up with one if I really want it. The problem would be the same as in 1973. To few parts available and I had the single four intake at the time. Headers were expensive and no one really knew how to make real power out of one that I knew at the time. The only person I got to know that could have assisted in making one a real power house has passed.

its all cam and intake , those heads flow great . drop a 4.0 crank in it , its like 390 ci with big torque from idle to 5k .
