is there a gasket between the booster and the master cylinder ? and on back of master cylinder does the metal retainer with two screws and rubber go on if its power or is that just for manual brakes ? thanks

Not sure what vehicle you are working on. Maybe these pics will help answer your questions. As far as the Master cylinder, the metal retainer and rubber is not used when mounting to a booster.

The factory never used a manual brake foam firewall M/C gasket between the M/C and power brake booster. Most boosters have a stamped weepage grove at the M/C matting surface to allow any M/C seal weepage to drain. Using a foam firewall gasket defeats the purpose, and will allow weepage to collect in the booster.
