Project freshen up: 1968 Charger

Not too much has been happening with the car at the body shop. The side molding holes are all welded in & you can see the dent in the front of the fender pulled out pretty good..........

love that combo on a 68! first mopar I ever remember was my sister's boyfriends 68 charger, silver with black vinyl and a seriously hot 440 that he had a six pack set up on. it was a stick car and I still remember the power of that thing. it was 1973 I was 8 years old and life as I knew it was over! 1979 I had made enough cash to buy a clapped out one which I rebuilt over the next two years in shop class. I was driving it on the day of my 16th birthday with my brand new drivers license! god I miss that car!

Pictures from today's visit to the body shop. The exterior bodywork is just about complete. Next will be filling the Zeibart holes & then primer, The front of the left fender came out pretty good..........

Very nice, looks like their doing some really nice work on it. I think just about every Charger (unrestored) I've seen has the front of those fenders beat up including mine, those pics look like they really did a great job on it especially since you can't really get inside of them very easily. Love the silver, one of my favorites.

I am curious how the front left fender came out. Yes, I can see the picture above, but not sure how much filler was needed. Sometimes those beat up pieces can be pretty hard to fix, but if you get the right "tin knocker" they can do amazing things...

Looks like it took a good wack at one time they did a good job repairing that, n i thought mine were bad, i really like that silver colour, should make it stand out

It goes to show hat anything can look good in pictures which is why I decided to do it over. I'm really looking forward to seeing it finished in silver. With the black vinyl, redlines & Magnums, I think that it'll look classy and will also stand out.

Actually, the other car is a 69. The Hemi is beautiful, but with the rebounding economy & old car prices, I figured I'd throw it out there & see what happens. What the heck, others do it & this car is pretty special. I have one interested party and if nothing comes of him, I'll put it on fleabay to get some greater exposure.

The 69 was always going to be an interim car for me because I like 68s better. That is on fleabay now & has gathered lots of interest and I'm almost feeling optimistic that it may go soon.
