My 1972 SSP small block water outlet/thermostat housing is just a little stub, large enough to just barely attach the upper radiator hose. Is this the factory piece or was there one with a longer neck? Anyone have pictures of the factory installed one? Mine was badly corroded, which led me to believe that it was, in fact, original. Cleaned it up and replaced the gasket, now it is seeping traces of coolant. Thank you.

Hard to see but here's what I got. You can gauge the hight with the clamp laying on it .

Yes, that's what mine looks like alright. Thank you. One more question, my alternator lines up perfectly with the crankshaft pulley, but the P/S is a little off and I cannot figure out the reason. Is this common to this year/model?

Yeah there very close most of the times but some times they could use a shim ,I'll take a pic of my 340 agen from the top so you can see it (I haven't looked at it really, waiting on my body to go to the stripper before I dig into it ,give me an hour and check back for the next pic

Sorry about how long the site wouldn't let me post for some reason so I figured I'd try later. Here's the pics (no spacers) there's no bolts in water pump pulley that's why it's crooked

To me the P/S pulleys look in the photos to be just a little off from a perfect match, but not enough to bother trying to make any efforts to improve the alignment. My are a little worse, but no belt noise or belt throwing going on either.

On my 72 Coronet 318 The powersteering pump is a little off to. Haven't had any problems
