I know Duesenbergs and Lincolns are the popular deal but those 30's Imperials were super classy IMO.

Mine are just the standard wheelbase, Briggs body cars. The really classy ones are the long wheelbase LeBaron bodied Custom Imperials. Five times as much bucks as mine, rivals of most any classic Packard or Caddy. V16 Caddy's and Duesenbergs are a different universe.

in 1967 I had a 59 Plymouth Fury. Swivel front seats, 2 door, push button auto. Cost $175 in Hawaii.
Have an old pic at home, but I am not there.
Since then I have had a 64 full bodied Dodge with a slant six, and a 72 Fargo, new, also with a slant six.
Now I have a 77 camper van. 318, 727, dana 60.

68 Coronet purchased in 1974 for $750. I loved that car even though it was a 318 with a column-shifted automatic. Made me look cool And it always started in those cold Minnesota winters!

1st. car for me was in 79 when I was 16. Bought it from my grandparents next door neighbor who was an adjunct professor at FSU on a 1 year loan from Oxford and sold it to me for $250 when he was going back. 66 Barracuda with a 273 Commando console shift- a/c-pwr. steering & pwr. disc brakes. Guy in a big truck didn't see me and merged me off the main drag into a telephone pole. When the back glass blew it sounded like a 12 gauge shotgun going off. Been a Mopar guy ever since although my grandfather always drove Fury's so that's when I fell in love with them. My dad had bought the professor's wife's 62 more door Valiant at the same time I bought the Barracuda and gave it to me after the wreck and I drove that car till after high school. It was a downgrade but I loved that car /6 and all.

Dang, I forgot about my first car. A first gen Barracuda. This must have been '71-'72. My dad was at an auction and there was a white one. It wouldn't start. Dad put the AT in reverse and it started. I think Dad paid $5. It had a V8 and a 4 bbl. I took it around a corner at 15 years old, and it did a 180. The car was banged up and the shifter cable always got stuck and bent. I don't know what happened to it when he bought me the nice '66 Mustang fastback for $750. Hey, I worked my butt off at the cattle ranch for no pay.

Spine is fine.....sort of.
I do have a bulged disc that sometimes flares up but otherwise, no lasting effects. Years of work doing wood framing was probably as much responsible for the back strain as anything else.

I would LOVE to do it again but it is funny how as we get older, we actually DO think of how it could go wrong.....as a 30-35 year old, the thought of the fun I'd have outweighs the risks!

This is my second one ever in 1986. Hence the mullet! lol. Factory 340 automatic on the column car. I traded 2 wheels and tires (new weld racing wheels) for a whole paint job!

The first car ever was my 1966 Monaco 2 door prior to this that I blew all the frost plugs out when it over revved during a burnout, it hit some water and I watched the tach burry briefly before it quit running.
