question for the carburetor gurus

there is no dashpot but there is an air hose that goes from top area of the secondaries to the bottom of the choke housing. It's working fine now and pretty soon the hot weather will be back and this problem stops. So, thanks again for your help.

Actually a stock type carb choke will even be closed all the way on an 80 to 90 degree day if the eng is cold and has not been started all night. But its tension will be much less then a very cold eng. If you step on the gas a tad the choke will close but on very hot weather will have less tension so when the eng starts the choke vacuum break spring will not compress in hotter temps and open the choke more on start up in real hot days. And if no vacuum break then it uses a piston in the choke housing. The electric part of the choke has nothing to do with how much tension is on the choke on a cold eng but it will cause the choke to open faster if its an electric assist choke. If its an all electric choke then it will control completly how fast the choke coil heats up and opens the choke. Ron
