PopsGTX.....i do believe that's a Spartan Executive, great airplanes...sin the way they're picking it up. Friend of ours hd one We Used To trade off our straight 35 Bonanza with. He had a two hole P-51 also.
Here's Germany's flying luxury liner of the '30's - the Dornier Do-X. Powered by twelve engines and weighing 56 tons, it could seat 100 but usually just 66 for overseas flights. With luxury items such as a smoking lounge, wet bar, sleeping berths, dining saloon with electric galley...
This early flight shows off the original Bristol radial engines. They were later swapped to Curtis V-12 engines with greater power
Here are some interior shots. Not a bad way to travel if you could afford it. Note the engineer in the engine control room. If the captain wanted to adjust the engines on this flying boat, he wouldn't do it himself but rather would signal the engineer his power requirements, and then the engineer would adjust the engine controls. Just like a real ship.
I would think it's a replica ,I was informed by my brother in law (he took the picture) that it was being ran in the scca "race day" at the Daytona speed way I can try and find more information on it .
Hey hey Dennis....nice 55 Dude!.....I told You we have a 55 DeSoto vert w/ 342 hemi(correct non-match) were working along with grand prix....we were just talking about pulling the 62 Starfire Vert out & start bustin' on it too...all it really needs is a little massage, & paint..Heard one just went for 48K...time to get busy....speakin' of Pancho, You've seen these already, maybe some one else will like. donor quarter decks & rea cowl or filler spliced in mid sail panel...step lapped into sides just below peaks along molding line..trunk floor is donor also...not a frame off, but it's going as black as we can do. so it's taking it's pound of flesh to dial in, but should look good...sail panels were shot with cancer so all that & in behind drip rails has been recreated....got the peaks in roof very sharp and nicely dove tailed. Nice DeSoto Dennis...tanks for the shot of inspiration to keep moving w/ ours. Every one Have a Great weekend...We Are all so lucky to be here buff-it
