Now that just took me back!!
My best friend was part of a deal where a 62-64(?) police unit with a 401 was destroyed. The engine was ruined during a highspeed run.Jeez, I remember looking at a ‘62-64(?) Galaxy conv 401 tri-power 4spd in red at a used car lot many, many years ago.
Did you like it and how many years/miles did you keep it for? Issues?
I had an '84 Shelby Charger (no turbo) that I drove for 3 years / 73k miles.
I had a red one also as a second hand carI had this version-

Red, black leather, turbo, 5 speed, T tops.

...but broke a LOT.
There was a 410 engine in some Mercurys, perhaps it was a miss-print.Ford 401? Not to be nitpicky, but I have never heard of them. Like Ford hot rods, but not an expert

I thought it was a 406 or a 410 Marauder. I'm no expert either.Ford 401? Not to be nitpicky, but I have never heard of them. Like Ford hot rods, but not an expert

Did you buy the Paul Rossi Challenger behind them?
I had a friend who was a Ford freak and I participated in conversations with him learning much. I learned there was a 332 in '58 when we were in a junk yard in Gillette, Wy and I bought a pair of 332 heads for $5 because he didn't have any money on him. They had adjustable rockers and machined combustion chambers. He said only they, and CJ heads had those chambers. He put them on a 390 in his '57 Courier (sedan delivery) with a top loader. It ran pretty goodI thought it was a 406 or a 410 Marauder. I'm no expert either.
My friend would say it was a new 400 engine. He did not mention that it was Tri Power.
It was a cool story
I wish that he was still here to ask.....
