I'm in the process of buying a 67 Charger and found that it had a disc brake conversion done. Now the car has been sitting for a few years as the former owner passed away. So the guys showing me the car don't really know about it as its an estate sale. Today I found the setup and it looks like they did not hook up the E brake cable and the backing plate on the driver side is still attached to the cable. Its just hanging there, so how the hell do I remove that damn cable from that backing plate? Thanks guys, cant wait for your answers.

Slip a 14mm box end wrench of similar over the cluster of "teeth" that hold it into the plate and it'll pop off.

Great, I will try it. Do you know how the E-brake cable for the rear disc brake kit hooks up to the cars cable, you ever deal with that at all? Thanks for replying.

When I installed discs on my 65 Belvedere 8 3/4, I purchased a kit from Dr. Diff and he included adapter cables to hook to the factory main cable. If you can decern the supplier, life may treat you right.

Thanks again, and I see you have some medical stuff going on same as me. I should have listened to older people 40 years ago when they told me not to get old. :)

First, it is properly called a Parking brake cable.
Secondly, a small hose clamp can often be slipped over the prongs to compress them or as mentioned above, a box end wrench may also work.
Rear disc brakes can be great if they are properly installed and if the rest of the brake system is set up for it. There needs to be either an adjustable proportioning valve or a 4 wheel drum distribution block to avoid having the rear wheels lock up before the front.
A switch back to 10" rear drums may be an easier route.

I don't know how they set it up. I'm probably going to have to bleed the brakes anyway, so I think I will do what you say and just add the 4 wheel drum block. Mopar A, B, E body 1 pc Drum Brake Distribution Block- 4 wheel drum/4 wheel disc | eBay

Did you have to use a proportioning valve for your setup?

I did install one but, I only have 24 miles on the car so, no testing has been performed yet. And now it's in upholstery prison. I miss it already:(.

The Charger I'm buying has a P in the VIn #, but I don't understand how a car with no bucket seat or a console and no A/C is considered a Premium car. I would rather have a small block with the buckets and console. You think it would be easy to convert to bucket seat and the console, the A/C is no problem now, there's a few companies making that stuff.
