I'm looking for sources of economical parts to reseal my 65 Dodge compressor. I found some E-Bay seals and I'm wondering about part number superseding. The original PN is:1426501 but I see several that look like the correct seal listed as: 3847916. Can anyone elaborate on these numbers? I'm looking for a gasket set also. Please point me to a source (I know Classic Ind. has them). Thanks!

Go straight to oem and get it. As you know a lot of parts on aftermarket don't work. Oem will babe the right seals etc for what your doing. Plus will handle 134 a freon with the difference in oil old style and some new style can't handle the oil

I will if I have to. I mentioned "economical" in my post and that's not the dealer.

You will need a new dryer too. Classic Air would be my first place to look

You can get a rebuilt RV2 for about the same price as the parts but there are front seals that are REALLY inexpensive on eBay which are likely what are used. That seal is complicated and to me $45 seems like a price that is more in line with a quality part so I opted to rebuild mine with the above parts and it has worked perfectly for the last 18 months.

Look in the bookmarks on my thread for my rebuild, especially how to get the seal in correctly!

Thanks Jim,
I have rebuilt several of these compressors, albeit it's been a few years/decades!
