We've lost another Drag Racing Legend.

I've read on another forum that Bill (Grumpy) Jenkins Passed away today. All I've read was that he had been in the hospital for the past week or two, nothing said about what happend.

I'll bet he and Landy are setting in Heaven chomping on there cigars chatting with Sox.

I just saw where Diane Sox posted, on Facebook, that the 'Grump' passed away. Maybe he'll be match racing with Ronnie again.

Great racer, my buddy used his "Grumpy" as a handle on the radio back in the ole days! a real great racer! My condolences to the family.

Sad to here the news,my condolences.
On a cheery note..Dandy Dick and Ronnie are making him feel at home..
"Those are not fluffy white clouds,Grumpy..that's tire smoke from the burnout box.."

Kept the Mopar guys honest in Pro-Stock. RIP

Yes saw this on Comp cams facebook. R.I.P. Grumpy thanks for the great memories.

Thanks, for the memories...................

Watched him when I was a kid. I still have the Hod Rod mags from the early 70's with him on the covers. Both his Vegas and Camaros.
RIP Bill.

I remember being stationed at Ft Campbell back in 71 when he rolled that Vega out. I loved it, seeing him and some other legends running an 1/8th mile track in Phoenix City, AL.

Rip Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins, you will have some great company were your going, you will be missed for sure, I can see them all now bench racing & arguing who's better, who's got the favor of the officials or who's cheating & how, Kieth Black, Ed Pink, Joe Mondello, Joe Piasanno, Lee Shepard, Smokey Yunick, Marty Robbins, Zora Arkus Duntov, John Delorean, Harley Earl, Ed Moroso, Ronnie Sox, Dick Landy, Darrell Russell, Eric Medlin, Darrel Alderman, Scott Jeffrion, Scott Kalitta, Walley Parks & many other great racers & car guys that are all at the big race track in the sky...

I'm on Diane's page and is where I read it first. RIP Grump....

This is a funny story I found on Classracer.com.

Re: Bill Jenkins

I was in the tech line at Indy 75 US nationals waiting my turn. When the line stopped I found myself beside Bill's car. Leaning on the fender of my 4600 lb. Delta 88 I watched as an army of tech officials were pouring over his car , I think it was the Monza. He appeared completely unfazed by all this. Out of the blue he turns to me and says "Biggest damn car I've ever seen with slicks on it, will it turn em" I grinned and asked why all the fuss over his car and he told me they said they found 6 things wrong with it. I said that was a bummer and without cracking a smile he said " No I know of at least 10. First and last thing we ever said to each other. A very smart and innovative man and another hero gone.
