Roadkill and other car related TV shows

Many of us enjoyed these shows or at least some of them.
I liked the Roadkill, Roadkill Garage, Engine Masters and sometimes the Roadworthy Rescues shows.
As a guy that has tinkered with cars since 1982, I can say that working on cars can sometimes be frustrating. Cuss words get yelled, tools get thrown, sometimes a nearby hammer gets used to vent some frustration.
How come we never see the guys on these shows get angry ? Is it because it would be bad for TV ? It is reality though....I usually cuss and bitch several times when working on something that is difficult.
Who has changed a starter in one of these cars with headers and NOT used the F word?

Today I saw the episode of Roadkill where the guys got a Ford from an Arizona junkyard. It was a turd, you could tell they hated it but if it were me, I'd be saying what a piece of **** this was and how I'd never buy another Ford.

I agree.
We have seen the fake drama on other shows and nobody believes that crap. We’re going to lose the shop is a BS line that Tony Angelo uses in jest.
I know that with all the friends I’ve been around, exactly none of them have remained calm the entire time a project is going on.

I'm sure those guys have their moments. It takes hours and hours of video to create an hour of content, so the unexpected drama gets edited out unless there's some real entertainment value.

It's all in the editing. I've seen Freiburger hold back a few times and then going outside of Dulcich's shop to scream. As for them not getting frustrated as quickly as most of us do, I think their expectations are set low to begin with, and that's one reason they can keep the lid on.
Of course, there's always the possibility that it's all scripted for tv from beginning to end.

Periodic swearing prevents me from building up a bunch of anger and then blowing a gasket and ending up in some trouble.

I am sure there has been some f bombs dropped. It’s all in the editing, after all the shows with the yelling and pissed off people. It ‘s refreshing it to not have to put up with it.

I learned an early lesson....... pretty sure I was 14 years old

I was working on my Maico 250, with this awesome aluminum gas tank; it was my baby.....not sure what I was doing, but I got pissed......

I had a Phillips screw driver in my hand...... I walked away, down the driveway almost to the street.......

I turned around and threw the screw driver at the bike from at least 30 feet away.......

it stuck into the side of my gas tank like a dart...... the memory disgusts me to this day

Roll out a blanket or moving quilt on the floor and sit down with your dogs. Pets and rubs. Soothing for them and you.

That DOES help. I have a couch in the shop and yeah, they have been great for those frustrating moments IF I can get them to enter the shop after hearing me yelling.

Oh man that is so true. I cuss a bunch when I'm working on my cars. Never goes how I envision it in my head.

If you watch Roadworthy Rescues closely, you can tell when Derek is getting close to the edge.

Then they edit.
