It's pretty hacked up, dash was chopped up for a custom sheet metal one with aftermarket gauges. Hood - steel is hacked up and somehow a fiberglass a12 scoop is mated on there. Interior is nice new head liner and seats are low back bench. Decoded car came from lynch rd, has a built 383.

it's striped down to metal but all glass is in place. starting to sound like a good project right? well first thing he says he is going to do is take it to the local body shop and for $15-20 the shop is going to do all black and under cat it, all good but what struck me as odd is he said he wanted to resto mod it and put 20" wheels in the back and 16 - 17" in the front. Then I realized he was going to take what someone had tried to make a strip car and instead of restoring it with mild mods he is going to make it look like a chevy. lmao

So he then h tells me if he can find the numbers on the 282 he will be in heaven......I start scratching my head an can't help but wonder why would you care about numbers matching at this point? lmao

I did a quick look at the 383 and some one has taken off the deck stamp and I can't seem to find the block vin sequence either by motor mount or rear by bell housing?? is there anywhere else to look? I looke hard for any stamping of letters or numbers other than the block cast production numbers none other .

I was able to confirm vin to fender tag but no where else on the body.

super77se was kind enough to decode the tag for me.

thats all i could come up with
triple black Road Runner very cool

Cool car and triple black. Nice. The block was probably decked at some point hence the stamp missing. There should be a stamp on the side of the block near the pan rail.

383 stamp is close to the dizzy. easier to take it out and look at the numbers

Didn't see the stamp near the pan rail but only looked where I could see which was right in front of the motor mount, Deck stamp is either so light or got surfaced off cuz they removed the paint and it was bare metal. Nothing on the rear at bell housing. Just need to get underneath and look under headers rear of motor mount probably there.

Just wondering how this car is going to look dropped to the ground 20" wheels in he back, 18" up front and the front and rear bumpers cut and re welded to bring them in more centered? hmm gunna be interesting for sure.

It'll probably be more interesting than the dime a dozen full on restos that flood every corner of this hobby.

Yeah I hope so, I am kind of looking forward to it on one hand but not sure how 20" wheels in the back are going to look so with apprehension I await. I just love the factory 70 RR / GTX look and really don't see any reason to change it or resto mod it or anything, I would definitely have more respect for his project if he dug in and did just a restoration to original. I mean I can buy a change to a 440 6bbl from original 383 car or an auto to 4 speed etc even 15" to 17" wheels in some respects but honestly I really think there is more value in getting closer to original with some minor resto mods.

Value is in the eye of the beholder for sure. I can flip open the computer and buy another stock resto 383 b-body auto car for $25k anywhere, anytime so who really cares what he does with this one? I think the 20's will look fine (and I'm not even into that) as long as he doesn't leave it riding like a 4x4 like the local ghetto riders do. I love the factory 70 look as well but you're just painted into a corner if you follow the "can't do anything that's not factory" mantra...

Tia is what it looks like now
